Just had a look at consumption figures. The best ever was going to the CXM last year, 47.7 MPG. (estate)
This year it was 46.84.
His trip to Brum yesterday 32.35 and the car computer said 32.1 (they are usually very close). He was stuck in traffic for an hour and a half though.

No word of a lie, the 52 miles I've done since filling up yesterday were done at an average of 52.3mpg according to the computer. That was in the cold this morning before 6.30 and after 7pm.

On the latest shell premium diesel my car would hunt around idle. I only tried it the once since there isn't a shell near here.
Bp ultimate it's happiest on.
Normal fuels it doesn't get as high on mpg.

The best mileage I know I got (when I decided to try an economy run to my Mum in Birmingham) was 61.3MPG. I filled up my 110HP HDi Xantia before I left, reset the trip, and then I got back I filled her up again, and then did the maths. Mind you, it was probably the most sedate I have ever driven since passing my driving test!

I only use Shell normal diesel in Gracie (and my previous Xantia), and I have not had any weird fuel problems (others, yes, but none fuel related).

I have squeezed 61mpg out of Rattiva in the past, I also got it as low as 29 on a run down to Bristol one morning!

My driving is always sedate, I don't remember what the CX consumption was although I ran them for about 10 years, I know it was good. The XM has always averaged 50-55mpg on our annual Scottish trip but the C5 only managed 60.1 this year which is not so much different, the best I had was from the 406 last year return journey when it was very hot and that averaged 67.8 over 650 miles but most of you would die of boredom driving like I do. Never found its made any difference what fuel I use.

I've had mine down to 9mpg albeit briefly, uphill on my way home from work. 11mpg comes up fairly regularly.
