I wonder if your symptoms could be caused by low hydraulic pressure due to a faulty regulator? If it were a hydroactive car, there would probably be other symptoms (failure of the hydroactive valves to open), but on a non hydroactive car, maybe brake efficiency is the first thing to suffer?

If you are suspecting the doseur valve and you checked that there are no visible LHM leaks but did you also check the brake pedal area, under the carpet? If there is a doseur (rubber cap) leak it goes into the car via brake pedal and under the carpet.
---------------
Edit: It's very easy check. You don't have to remove anything. Just find the end the carpet and feel with your fingers under the carpet right below the brake pedal.
---------------

LHM level OK?
Suspension works fine?
Accumulator healthy, tick interval is not short (under 15 seconds)?

if it were leaking here you would certaunly know about it,
firstly you would smell the citro blood, secondly you would be loosing lots of LHM, thirdly it would be visible under your feet,

Mr VertVega

i think the original question was meant to be asking if there is a bleed nipple on a XANT doseour valve,
as i trigger this thread in Martin's other thread he has running, regarding poor brakes

There isn't a bleed valve on the Xantia brake controller.

Between this thread and the other, I am not convinced there is a singular "magic bullet" for the reported problem. To me, the best place to go following a good bleed, is with a pressure test on the spheres in play.

Thanks citronut, now I found the other thread (already 5 pages) which I have totally missed  I have not read it all but I guess most of the above must have been already written there.

As addo also just written, there was no (doseur) bleed valve in Xantia II.

Brakes update. Well I feel its just about the end of the line,I give up .Fitted new lucas pads, changed the fluid after using the flushing solution and then bled em all again. No improvement at all . Only thing I have noticed is if my hand brake is being pulled and I put my foot on the brake the hand brake comes up about 6 notches.
When I had the clip of the LHM tank and went to refit it I could not find anything at the rear of the tank to attach it to .Can someone tell me if there is a pin or loose clip that the retaining clip utilises please cos mines gone if there is

That is normal. I always push the footbrake hard when parking on an incline and drag the handbrake lever up hard.
Not doing so cost me a C5 estate. Fortunately I wasn't driving.

OK well that has sorted that. I will do the same on a gradient myself now. Been very lucky having only had one myself, whilst in the pub. Came out no car. Looked down the hill and saw someone had parked against a traffic island in the middle of the road about 50 yards away. Walked down towards it and yes it was my Xantia. The wheels had nudged the kerb as it went up the incline and stopped it . Got in and drove away. Should have done the lottery

to adjust the hand brake mechanism in the front calipers, park the car on level ground ( fuel station forecourt ) or the likes,
let the hand brake off, engine running press the foot brake hard several times, this will adjust the hand brake mechanism up, all be it the internal mechanism of the front calipers are working, and not damaged through someone pressing the caliper pistons back without winding them inwards,

Ok thanks, pistons have always been wound in so should be possible.I am a bit concerned about the retaining clip which goes across the LHM tank cos at the back it does not locacte anywhere ,I have managed to jam the loop end under the lug but a jolt would release it.Is there a separate hook or something I have lost please
