Its possible but its no more likely to than a 1.9, they blow gaskets as well at about the same mileage. As Pauls says, if they used laminated steel gaskets on them they could well last longer. The Hdi engine uses the laminated gasket and I have one that has done 216,000 miles without needing a replacement.

Ive got a HDi with 261k on original gasket and no leaks... Once any XUD got a laminated gasket they never went again.
