Fuel pressure ref is connected to the throttle and basically when you put your foot down it rises then the fuel measured is what the ecu has increased to make your engine go faster.... a minus occurs when you say demand 500bar in the reference and the fuel measured is 480bar this results in a -20 bar reading in the diff between actual and ref box....

Just a thought.. and I know its about a different car.. BUT when I owned a C2 for a short time, it would cut out under acceleration, very embarrasing if you'd just come off a roundabout or halfway accross a junction, but wouldn't require the key to restart. It was down to air in the fuel line.. easy to see as there was a bit of clear fuel pipe by the rubber priming pump. I solved it by replacing all of the plastic fuel hose. Sorry if I'm pointing you in the wrong direction Paul. But its something I didn't work out for a few months.

Appears to be problem solved...

I managed to swap the injectors and a a fuel filter element from the hdi 90 and although the fuel pressure still varies on idle the 40 mile drive home has now resulted on no issues or no cutting out or anything.

It appears then it was either injectors or fuel filter.

THANKYOU TO ALL WHO POINTED TOWARDS INJECTORS it had to be but i was optimistic..

But looks like it was. Originals had 260k on them. These in now have 190k so we shall see how long they last.

But it can't be all the injectors surely. Presumably one was mis-behaving and dropping the pressure in the high pressure rail?

The theroy is, they have all been in since new, ALL done 260k, so why p i s s about with one, lexia showed the flow rate as all roughly the same, so I decided to stick ALL four matching from the other engine in...

Deafenatly sorted. Been out again this evening, no problems. Not keen on starting, but this is looking like heater plugs, as she starts much better when hot..

Are you going to try the injectors to narrow down which one has failed at all or just sling the lot as they are circa £50 each in used nick if they just need a refurb to be good again?

Ive just swapped them all over.. ill lable mine up as f o o c k e d and put them aside.. not got time to arse around with them.
