Rev counter on HDi doesnt work from the Crank sensor.. Its direct from the ECU..
The ECU needs the Crank Sensor, cam Sensor, fuel pressure sensor ALL to be working to start. Crank sensor could WELL be full or covered in s**t.

Re: 2.0 hdi xantia won't fire
It should run steady out the back of the pump NOT at high pressure...
What happens then is the steady flow pressurises the rail up for the injectors.. It doesn't fire the fuel like an Old XUD Roatry Pump does..

That I dont know. As I said in first of my entries there isn't that many sensors, and they are rather reliable.
Having the car on the lexia and looking at the live parmeters, while spinning the engine over you can see All the sensors that are working from the info on the screen. Otherwise its chasing the few till you get the right one..

Taffy, you really need to see about a Lexia. There’s a good chance it'll save you hours and hours of faffing around. There must be someone in the locality that has one surely?
