Sadly I concur with Simon Steve...

Anyway, no worries. Whatever suits you I'm happy with. As I said, you are more than welcome to borrow my V6 for the duration and that would solve all your return journey issues

But as I say, I'm content whatever but I am actually looking forward to going into combat with it again. The car is in fundamentally excellent nick and and very much worth persevering with and I have a bit of a determination to get it sorted once and for all.

Also, if you want to get a pair of strut return hoses I'll swap those at the same time...

Getting the car to you isn't the problem, and thankfully I won't need another car, my problem is one of time to get the car back, nothing more. As for the strut return hoses, I'd already thought of that

Right then, we have a plan :-D

The Xantia will be spending a week with "Sensei Jim" whilst we're away on holiday and then "Sensei" can play with it as much as he wants. The battle will be won before the XM gathering as I will need it back for that.

Incidently, 343.3 miles and used 62.47 litres of gas for those that want to work it out 69.9pl as opossed to 133.9
£43.66 - 5.5 miles / litre = 25MPG near enough. Assuming a 10% reduction in MPG for running on gas, would have cost you 56 litres of Petrol = £75. For an equivalence MPG you could consider that £43.66 would have bought you 32.6 litres of petrol, and therefore required 10.5 miles / litres = 47.8 MPG. Brilliant, a V6 that does 48 MPG :-D

That's on a par with my C1 economy.....

Our plan has come together nicely Steve, looking forward to getting stuck into it. I enjoy a good problem...

I can't officially be called Sensei as I'm not a black belt yet but I suppose in Xantia stuff I am...

Google failed me with a Scottish to English translation there Davie but I got the gist :-D

Eyelashes and my Xantias get on very well. They love Eyelashes for the fact they now both have a very quiet life and only get used for pleasure.

So that bodes well for her giving Steve’s car some TLC. They have met

Must be annoying that it seems to be misbehaving so much now, but on the plus side the only way Jim is going to find the problem is if it keeps misbehaving with reasonable regularity, so that's actually a good thing ! Finding an intermittent fault that won't misbehave is a real nightmare...

Now this is getting really strange, drove along the M6 with the gearbox working fine, had to brake fairly sharpish at one point and when I came off the motorway the gearbox was stuck in 4th gear.

So I'm presuming there's also the possibility of a wiring issues as well..... sorry Jim

This definitely enforces the credence that it's electric based. Maybe something's in a loom and under certain conditions is earthing or plain breaking...

All I know at the moment is that is really a pain in the derriere! I'm probably going to have to use the C6, until I can find some time to have a quick look, unless I get chance in the morning.
