Always someone on eBay or the club I'm sure will have spares from a broken one.. Wonder if citroen still sell them and a dealer has one in stock they want to offload... Of course only if it's proved a replacement is needed I'm thinking of. Fingers crossed your lead will be sorted and cleaning up the connectors and such will help it :)

Right, I've sat this morning and pinned out the 30 pin to 30 pin connection cable, James very kindly did the same thing a while ago, which I had forgotten about. This afternoon my plan is to compare the two diagrams and try to repair the faulty lead I currently have.

Simon, I think yours is the OBD lead to 30 pin, if I'm correct, which I also have, so I'm wondering if you could pin yours out too. That would mean there would be no need to send it down with Will.

I'll start a new thread later as it could be useful to others to see the minimal logic I've applied

This is the info on the pinouts for the 30 pin round to 16 pin OBD connectors.

Copied and pasted from PM to Steve;

The round connector has 3 concentric rings of pins, while the D connector has 2 rows of eight pins. I will try and describe connections clearly.
I will go from round connector to D plug. The O plug will have the latch point uppermost. The D plug will have horizontal orientation, long edge uppermost. I would give pin numbers, but there are none to be seen, and (I hope you understand) I am not taking apart a working cable to find them.
I will start with the pin at the 12 o’clock position, and go clockwise around. I will also start from the outermost ring. The innermost ring is made up of 4 ‘holes’ only 2 of which are occupied. On the round connector (which is technically 30 pin) there are only 16 occupied pins, and 14 empty pins. I will ‘number’ the occupied pins, and count the empty at the relevant points.
On the D plug I will number from left to right, top row (1 – 8), bottom row (9 – 16).
Outer Ring
Pin 1 goes to pin 1
Two empty pins
Pin 2 goes to pin 14
One empty pin
Pin 3 goes to pin 10
Pin 4 goes to pin 7
Two empty pins
Pin 5 goes to pin 3
Pin 6 goes to pin 13
Pin 7 goes to pin 16
Pin 8 goes to pin 9
Pin 9 goes to pin 5
Pin 10 goes to pin 5 (not an error, pins 9 and 10 do connect to pin 5, and no others)
Pin 11 goes to pin 12
Middle ring
Two empty pins
Pin 12 goes to pin 11
Pin 13 goes to pin 2
Two empty pins
Pin 14 goes to pin 8
Inner ring
These 4 pins are arranged as a square (not diamond shape). Only the two on the right are occupied
Pin 15 goes to pin 6
Pin 16 goes to pin 15

Pin 4 on the D plug is NOT connected to anything.

Steve, I have an S1 ECU here. I've taken the liberty of packing it up ready for despatch.

Just say the word and it'll be on its way to you. But not until Wednesday as that's the earliest I can get to the Office of Postage.

The ECU originally came from our Honourable Member for Anglesey and came with the HP20 I had from him. I know it's a good 'un even though it's a bit cosmetically challenged...

Jim, thanks but to be honest, with the Lexia lead not working at the moment, it's better with you, having said that, IF I can sort a lead out, then there is a possibility I'll take you up on the offer.

First job though has got to be the lead....

Steve and James,

I'm a little bit confused - is the round connector on the Lexia interface also 30 pins ? If so that's not the 30 pin connector I've been referring to...

My Lexia has a long cable with a round (30 pin ?) connector to 16 pin D style OBD-II connector - the round connector attaches to the Lexia unit and the other end will plug straight into a S2 Xantia or later model.

I then have a short adaptor lead which plugs into the 16 pin OBD-II connector on the end of the first cable and has the 30 pin rectangular connector that fits a S1 Xantia at the other end - this adaptor is the cable I'm referring to as the 16 pin to 30 pin adaptor, not the one with the round plug.

If I read the conversation right some Lexia's instead of coming with an adaptor like mine come with a long cable that goes directly from the round (30 pin ?) connector on the Lexia to the 30 pin rectangular connector on a S1 ?

If so which cable is it you need the pinouts for ? :)

Simon you can get both cables as I have, round 30 to square 30 pin and OBD to square 30 pin.

I have James 30 to 30 pin lay out but don't have OBD to 30 square......

Steve, Silly question but when you look at your round connector off your lexia, does it have all 30pin holes populated with metal?

Understood. I'll try to get you the pinouts for the 16 pin to 30 pin adaptor tonight then.

Suspicious that two completely different design cables don't work - are you sure none of the pins in the spring loaded round connector are broken or missing ? Pity I didn't bring my Lexia down with me - I did actually have the 16 pin to 30 pin adaptor in my bag but forgot about it. #-o

Not all 30 pins are used.

As the 30 pin square connector functions when connected via the 16 pin OBD-II connector, that implies that there are 16 pins or less that are actually used on either of the 30 pin connectors...

Now you're confusing me again. On the previous page James talks about two rows of 8 pins - that's the OBD-II connector, and about the round 30 pin connector.

Tell you what, I'll try to get you both. If nothing else we'll get independent confirmation of James pinouts!

Now you know why I want to start this as a separate thread, but I'm trying to do this from work on my phone.

Once I get home, about 5 I'll start a separate thread with what I have and what I need. I suggest we leave this until then otherwise we're all going to get confused.

I'm hoping the one I ordered from easydiagnostics just works as I tried a 16-30pin one and it was useless.

Looking at my lexia not all of the 30pins are used/have metal connectors in the round spring loaded connector.
