Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
I've been having a little think this afternoon, so all you Oracle's here's the thought process:
I'm pondering disconnecting the mod to see if there is any difference in the starting, therefore if the starting is the same then it's the battery, if it starts easier then the mod is wrong, if so, it can only be a faulty relay......
Thoughts please

Will, on the keygens. I've seen where the field containing the generated keygen is one or two characters too short to display it all and you need to horizontally scroll the field to see it all...
Confused the heck out of me once...

What keygen ? I've never had to use a keygen to install Diagbox...
Don't bother trying to install a standalone copy of Lexia - it will be ancient and more difficult to install. Just install the latest version of Diagbox on the discs - it contains a copy of Lexia for the older cars. (In fact you can't install Diagbox and the old standalone version of Lexia on the same machine - see another thread in the forum active just now)
If you're still having problems start your own thread in the Citroen section or join one of the other active Lexia threads so we don't drag Steve's thread off topic!

I had to use a keygen for the Citroen manual DVDs, but not for the Lexia stuff.

Ahhh!!! Time to rip the installs out of the virtual machine then and start it from scratch. Why can't an install be so much simpler lol

Mike, There is one one wire that had to be cut and spliced, the others are additional wires, positive and earth, unless of course Will and I have completely botched something up, I ordered the part from the same company that was on the instructions, the only thing was that we couldn't find the 'white' plug so took the feed from somewhere else, where, I can't recall at the moment.superloopy wrote:Steve ... how can you 'undo' the mod? It's unlikely to be the relay, wiring up is simples and wires have now been clipped surely? You would need to completely undo it. I'd be swapping in a good battery. I did ... a Bosch Silver 76ah. No problems at all.

I was thinking of doing this before going down the road of replacing the battery with a new, huge ampage one........

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
IIRC the wire that we cut could simply be connected up with a SPADE-SPADE connector and that would put it back how it was.
If you plump for a new battery look for the varta equivalent of a Bosch S5 as they are strong batteries for the size, youve seen the spare one i have in the garage and its little brother
I think 80AH is the largest size you could fit in a xantia tray but id play safe and find a 75AH one.
Do you want me to swap the one out of my TD at all and drop it off to you for testing? I know thats a good battery as the TD was left for weeks at one point and it still fired her up without issues and the 1.9td's are hard on batteries for starting

I'm going to do the disconnect first, which will probably be either tomorrow or Sunday and take it from there, worst comes to the worst, I can get it off you one morning next week on the way to work.

Just a thought. What is the state of the battery leads?

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
Battery leads ok, and power wasn't taken direct from the instructions which was another supply in the box.
The negative ran to the battery directly though
I just followed the electrical diagram bits as best u could and from the pictures

It was just a thought, as the leads might have been dodgy even though you weren't working on them.

The ones post somewhere on here, plus Sir Jims diagram, I can remember who sent me them, will have a look when I'm not trying to do this on my phone.

We took the positive from the one for the headlight washer relay mounting as it wasn't being used iirc.
I have slept since then a few times but the pics should clear it up

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
On mine there was no white plug, and that presented us with the problem, what I'm thinking now, is to take a direct feed from the battery. And then rejoin the wire we spliced to give us the power

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
What I meant was the general state of the battery leads themselves. If any were breaking down I would wonder if that would give starting problems despite the relay mod being done?
