Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
Further update, Lexia wouldn't connect...... And by the time I'd sussed out why it was to late to messing, turned out to be a dodgy USB port.
Anyway, I checked the hoses and they seemed to be OK with the top one getting warm, however, when I felt the radiator it was stone cold. I had the car running from cold to normal running temperature, fans came on at about 70 degrees and I had no warning lights, as soon as I closed the bonnet and began to drive off the water temp light and STOP light came on....

Steve, did the radiator eventually get warm?

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
Could be a dead stat thats blocked then and causing the sensor warning to come on as it knows the engine should be much warmer than that.
When was the coolant last changed in it?
Also where is the vaporiser plumbed into in the cooling circuit as they take a lot of heat out of the water??

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
I managed to get the LEXIA on it this morning, the only ECU it showed as "talking" to was the engine one and this had no faults...
I decided to try something a bit stupid, when the car up to the normal running temperature I unscrewed the pressure release on the rad to see if there was any air in there, there was a bit but nothing major..... the surprise was that the coolant that came out was lukewarm....
So, im beginning to would if you could be right Will. It's strange for it to suddenly go though, or is it?

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
Vapouriser is normally plumbed into the heater matrix lines Will..
It'll be worth bleeding the system Steve. It's really easy, open the rad valve with the engine not running until coolant issues from there very freely. Then remove and leave off the expansion tank cap and start up and then remove airbox (standard first step in any V6 job!) and when the engine is up to temperature open the bleeders - two brass Allen headed screws one near the green coolant temperature sensor on the top hose casting and the other on the thermostat body.
If that does not make life happy then it'll be a good idea to swap the 'stat as Will says. Nice job for Paul that...

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
Right, then I've had the engine bay apart, well air filter removed, checked the flow of water from Header tank to radiator, all good, got the car up to temperature, opened the top hose bleed screw got hot water, opened the other bleed screw, nothing..... no air, no water just nothing......

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
I'm so frustrated with it at the moment, everything was fine until the other day now I'm getting to the point where I'm wondering if I should have bought it.
I don't want to feel like that, I love the car........but.......
The one thing I have noticed is the the LHM is low, so I'm wondering if that could be giving me a false reading on the STOP light, I will call and get some LHM this afternoon on my way to work. Then see what that does tomorrow.
