Easiest way to get a disc retaining screw out is to use an impact driver!

Put the right bit in it, put it onto the screw, twist it till it takes up the slack then belt the end of it with a hammer and they all walk out. I've never had one sheer or round on me since I've used one of them. I got them out of the C5 the other night using that without an penetrating oil and they've been in there since the car was new by the looks of the discs!

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
I just thought I would show you guys the state of the pollen filter that was taken out at the service:

Now bearing in mind that according to the service book, the last time this car had a service was October 2009, the mileage then was 66821 the service was done next on 27th November 2013 and the mileage was 87435. to say it 'shameful'
is one way of putting it............
Thankfully she drives a damn sight better than she did before the service so she must have really needed it.

No matter what car the pollens need to be done every year. Might be worth cleaning the ducts out with some anti bacterial as well

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
I'll add it to the list Will
Free time is my biggest problem at the moment, I should have two days off this week, and I know I'm already working one, the other I'm working for SWMBO doing Jobs............
thankfully it's pretty easy stuff, because I'm already not in the mood for it.......
On a more positive note, I've managed to get my hands on another Michilin tyre for the Xantia and had it fitted to a alloy rim for £25 so that's a bonus, the next thing is to get the other Michilin off the spare and replace that with one of the 'good' Nexen tyres that will mean I have Michilin on the front and rear, with Nexen spares, one on a steelie and the other on an Alloy.
Next job to sort is the Brakes which I need to get a 'grip' of soon before the weather changes........

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
That's the plan Mark, I need to get the Brakes done, so could be a good opportunity of doing it in doors
I'm hoping I have the chance beforehand but like said it's subject to time and weather.....

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
Somebody asked me while ago what the LPG tank holds and all I could reply was it's a 90 litre tank, well last night I ran out of LPG and had to use petrol before I could fill it up again, The tank actually holds 70 litres as you have to allow for expansion still at 69.9 a litre multiplied by70 litres that's the princely sum of £48.93 the next plan is to run out again and then work out the average consumption...............
