I've got 500 in premium bonds and have had for many years. I've had quite a few £50 and once £100 off them. I'll leave my chances there!

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
I might have something that may interest you in a replacement Steve
As for V6 insurance it will bump it up a bit and some may refuse as they would with any car that's modified but others quite happily take them
Last experience i have of a single car policy for a modified car was the Coupe and that was £900 roughly for the year
However this V6 shall live on

Theres NOTHING wrong with XM owner ship, and need no more attention then a Xantia or old lady or anything like that!
Thats what I find, though, when my V6 SEi was on the road I did 40k trouble free miles, after sorting the starter motor issue out! It was great!

Paul there certainly isn't, it's just not something for me, that's all I'm saying. The C6 is going to be given some much need ed TLC as she's been neglect whilst I've been doing job on the Xantia.citroenxm wrote:Theres NOTHING wrong with XM owner ship
I sort of half looking for something else, just don't know if/what to look for.....

No, absolutely not but in my experience they do need a lot of attention and dedication and when you have other vehicles in the fleet and other demands on your time and resources it can be difficult to give that attention.citroenxm wrote:Theres NOTHING wrong with XM owner ship
That is all... Gosh, these days I barely have the time to properly look after my C1

XMs are lovely, but to say they don't need any more attention than a Xantia is slightly exaggeratingcitroenxm wrote:Theres NOTHING wrong with XM owner ship, and need no more attention then a Xantia or old lady or anything like that!

That said, apart from the diode mod and a set of spheres, my P-reg 2.1 TD was 10 years old when I got it when the values were on their backside, I hammered it over 40k over a year and it never missed a beat. It had 202k on when I got it.
Of course, the flipside is that the K plate S1 2.1TD I had with 72k miles on it did it's headgasket within 2000 miles of me getting it..

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
72k is the wrong milage to buy them.. between 70 and 110k expect to do a deteriated gasket. however at 200k as you found it was fine and didnt need dooing..northern_mike wrote:citroenxm wrote:Theres NOTHING wrong with XM owner ship, and need no more attention then a Xantia or old lady or anything like that!

The sd 2.1 I saved last year and again this year needed its gasket dooing to 110k it now has I think cant remember now a laminated multi layer on it so should last for ever.

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
My 2.5 this year has far been pretty good bar the fuel pipes cracking with age and needing replacing in the engine bay and the worst offender being rust but that's all being sorted now
Biggest single expense I had before the rust was buying a decent radio for it so I could plug my phone in

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
Will has been and collected the Xantia and ive load her up with the spare wheels and tyres, plus other bits and pieces I had and so she's gone
I've told Will to take over the blog, so I expect that this will become a really good blog, not the usual drivel from me........ anyway off to get a cuppa now........before I head off to work.

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
Well first issue other than the bodywork has reared its head
Pictures say a 1000 words and all!!

Now im thinking the stat is the wrong temp and needs pulling or the rad is coked up.
The tempin the second picture is with the interior on toasty and the fan turned up after about a minute.
The other pictures is on the cruise down and after sitting at lower speeds circa 60mph for a while but its running closer to the next bar up the dial most of the time
Will check the coolant level when its cooled down but off out to pick another car up and possibly another in the next few days

Hmmmm that's unusual, I would suspect it's coolant like you say, oil should be Ok too...... I've got to admit I'm curious.

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
I think the oil has had it and will need flushing out and fill with some new total stuff.
The other option is both coolant and oil temp are faulty... But i doubt that!
Steve are the plugs the standard plugs or the hotter grade of plugs that were fitted when you did them?
