They might want to rip the engine out of it . That's what pugsters normally do with Citroens. It may end up in a 106 chav chariot [-X.

As they used to rip the TCT out of Activas for Pug 205 GTi conversions when Mi16 engines started becoming scarce..

It was an interesting evening I have to say, there were 5 GTi, 2 CTi, a 407 and a 208. Everybody seemed taken with the Xantia and to be fair it was a good night, albeit somewhat shortened by me having to leave early because I was up at 4 this morning for work.

It's funny you should mention the TCT, one chap was looking for some thing retro with power and able to carry a family and luggage, so I pointed him towards a TCT estate with 65,000 on clock I know about.

Well, a number of people have asked me about the Xantia, and I'm pleased to report that she is behaving Impeccably, it wasn't that far for me to travel down to RAF Cosford last weekend. Some 90 miles but she was a pleasure to drive, I don't at the moment now what the future holds for her, but to be honest, I'm leaning towards giving her another 18 months or so, before I decide, unless something unforeseen happens.

She 'purred' along the M6 towing the trailer and never missed a beat, it's almost like I'm driving her for the first time, and I suppose I'm beginning to regain my trust in her.

Pleased to hear she's still running nicely Steve. :)

I know what you mean about it taking a long time to gain or re-gain trust in a car - I lost trust in my old V6 when I started having gearbox troubles and it never regained that trust...

It got to the point that I simply didn't take it on any long trips away from home (more than about 40 miles) because I was always scared that the gearbox would die and leave me stranded hundreds of miles from home with a now worthless car...and given that the gearbox in that car has now in fact failed I was right to be so concerned! #-o

I felt a lot more confidence in the new V6 right from the first few days that I started driving it, and over the last couple of months that I have had it as spheres, wheel balance and a few other niggles have been ironed out, my trust of it has continued to grow. Twice in the last month it has been taken on long spur of the moment day trips that were in the order of 140 mile round trip without a second thought other than to check tyre pressures and put petrol in. It's been a LONG time since I've felt comfortable doing that with a car... :) I now actually feel like I have a car I can use and trust.

It's amazing that something as simple as a faulty wire splice caused you so much trouble and that loss of confidence in the car...lets home that it continues to run like clockwork. :)

Steve, I concur. When you took me out in your Xantia the other day it was lovely! It really feels like a new car to be driven in as a passenger! The engine and box were so smooth!

If I had bought that car and was driving away from the sellers house in it today, I'd be over the moon! You've got a very special car there :)

Steve, I'm so pleased :-D Of all the things I've done on Xantias over the years the work we did to yours is possibly the most satisfying.

I also concur strongly with David's comments...

Well, the dummy has been spit again  this time though it's the front fog lights, I went to use them last night and nothing, the dashboard shows them switching on but there's is nothing at the bulb end, rather interestingly, there is a fuse shown for the rear fog's but not one shown for the front.....

Any ideas :?:

I'm sure I have seen mention of a relay for the front fogs that is prone to failure.
