I'm gutted. He helped me "bodge" the brakes on the Berlingo. I had a look the other day and the front pads are half worn 18 months and 18k later!Chris570 wrote:The brake padsHell Razor5543 wrote:I would say that 80k is something a professional mechanic would aspire to. I have exactly the same problem with oil. However carefully I change it I find it needs doing again and again. Filters too..
I'm clearly missing something. I have to go to my local Stealer tomorrow to pick up some spares so I'll ask if I can spend some time in their workshop and see if I can spot what I'm doing wrong.
Steve, Interesting you might end up with three cars

Could you not get a collectors/traders policy Steve. I remember someone talking about them on here, may be able to put your mrs polo on it too. I was thinking about looking into them when we had 3 cars.
I have both my policies with e-sure. They matched my NCB on the 2nd car. I pay £21 a month for the Berlingo and £23 for the C5. I'd try one of the specialist classic insurers like Peter Best insurance and see if I could get a classic policy if I were Steve at the moment.

Try Adrian Flux for a classic policy Steve. I have my Activa on one with them and it's not expensive.
My others are with Admiral... They're good for me... Also have my girls' cars on that policy too...

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
Thanks Guys,
I don't really want to get involved with a trade policy, mainly because I haven't a clue what's involved and knowing my luck I would come unstuck. I've thought about classic insurance and that seems to be the best way to go at the moment, I've had a quote off my current insurers for the Peugeot which I have to say is very good, so that only leaves the Xantia to sort, it's on temp cover for another week and then I have to have something in place or she has to be gone......
I need to get some quotes, but that won't be until the end of the week as I have no spare time at the moment.

Trade policies cover a whole range of uses Steve so don't be worried about using one

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
I have decided against a trade policy, I don't understand how they work, nor do I have any inclination to find out....... I've decided to remove the Xantia from sale for the moment, I need to get her on Classic Insurance, once I get a couple of hours to make phone calls.
I've got the run off pipes for the front this afternoon from my local dealer who had to them in stock
how amazing is that ?
So plans are in place for me to run down to Jim's on Sunday, items for attention, ECU, Cruise Control, run off pipes and anything else we can think of......... wouldn't want the old chap getting bored
