With the C6 you have a rare car. According to How Many Left, if my maths is correct there are less than 720 C6s' in use (not including SORNed).

But only 76 Xantia V6's left...Hell Razor5543 wrote:With the C6 you have a rare car. According to How Many Left, if my maths is correct there are less than 720 C6s' in use (not including SORNed).

Is that 407 the one David is selling ? If so I've been for a ride in it, it is a really nice car with that beautiful V6 and a manual gearbox, its got some real get up and go and sounds great. Doesn't have the quirkiness or ride quality of a Xantia or C6 though...

James, there's no need to tell me how few C6 are about, believe me I know...
Simon, yes it's David's, I think that says everything really.....

According to How Many Left (and my calculator
) there are a total of 6282 Xantias on the road (at the first quarter of this year), while there are only a total of 711 C6s at the same time.
EDIT Just finished calculating the results when you popped up your comment, Steve.

Would be better if you could break that out into cars by region ....

I saw a white S2 HDi in very good nick at the local picture theatre just a couple of weeks ago, but that's only the second non-forum Xantia I've seen in the last year or so...

Jim and I have had a chat, the plan we had in place looks like being stepped up and brought forward, how much forward is yet to be decided.....
Jim, is still confident the problem is the ECU, so I'm hoping it will be sorted fairly soon and then she can be offered for sale (No Will, not at your normal Xantia rate)

You will have a cracking pair of cars with the 407 and the C6 sitting side by side on the driveway!!
Very jealous of that combination!!

Yes, the plan is the car will come and live with me for a while whilst I really try to nail this problem. I just hope I can find it for 100% sure and then the car can be offered for sale with some confidence.Trainman wrote:Jim and I have had a chat, the plan we had in place looks like being stepped up and brought forward, how much forward is yet to be decided.....
Trouble is, we really thought we'd found it last time

Maybe it has mulitple issues.
We'll see...

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
Well the confusion continued last night or should I say first thing this morning, I left work, and she spit her dummy straight away, started off in first but wouldn't change up, stop and put gearbox I to reverse then back into drive and she set off in fourth.
I needed to call for gas, so I decided to try something different, I started the car, and put the car into drive and set off, before getting off the forecourt I moved the selector into 1 and move back up the gearbox to drive.
Where she then quite happily moved up and down the gearbox quite happily all the way home.....

Mike,
Normally, in Drive, she would change up from cold at around 3500 revs before changing up, when she spits her dummy, she will go to over 4500 revs

Yep, it's normal for the gearbox to hold onto 1st for a while when cold but the box will change up at over 3000 revs. The waiting time for normal change is 180 seconds from engine start.

I've tried both Mike, neither makes a differencesuperloopy wrote:Do you let her warm up, as Jim says, for the first 3mins (on average) or are you looking to get her up and away from the off ?Trainman wrote:Mike,

I drive mine sedately for that initial warming up period and she then gets herself into gear without a problem. Do you drive her this way I wonder or are you looking to get her revving to force the change when cold?
