Ford Prefect, you have misunderstood my comment.
The ESP system uses a brake fluid pressure sensor in its metrics, to determine appropriate responses. This sensor is integral to the ESP/ABS control unit, and failure is common across many marques and models. There are only two repairs - replace with same and wait for next failure, or replace with re-engineered aftermarket part that doesn't have same risk. Both are quite expensive, and I have seen workshops in denial about the cause of this problem.
I can also state from my own in-car testing of faulty ESP units that if it's only the pressure sensor at fault, basic ABS still functions perfectly.
