Re: C5 Prat Nav
Well, in case anyone is interested in keeping their old C5 sat nav and map as up to date as possible I can say that the new system software I loaded is working fine and seems to be a bit quicker than previously at finding things.
I also downloaded the 2011-12 map from the same place and burned a disc for that. It works ok but doesn't load every time and gives the message 'Wrong CD Loaded'. I think this may be down to the drive not liking home made CD's as when it does load it works perfectly. I may try a different media type to see what happens.

Good one.....when writing the disk do it at the SLOWEST possible write rate.

Thanks for that. I did burn a second disc at slower speed but not the slowest so I'll give it a go. As it happens, when I verified the first one I burnt at max speed it came back with errors, whilst the second slower burn was fine.

I can now confirm that if you use these
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000A33TD2/r ... _M3T1_dp_1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
the drive in the car will happily read it all day long, so I now have a fully functional up to date sat nav.

Re: C5 Prat Nav
Cool....I have to say as I use mine for work and the TomTom is far more accurate. However, the inbuilt is more comfortable to drive with.
BUT.....Try and find a "Lane" on Dartmoor with a house that has no number just a name ....does not happen

Re: C5 Prat Nav
Well I think it has the ability to enter geographical co ordinates if you can be bothered to find out what they are, as does the Tom Tom, but that may be a bit extreme except in cases of a house in the middle of nowhere. I usually have the Tom Tom in the car as emergency back up anyway, trouble is they argue over the best route!
