Can't help, as I have a different system where you pull out the little tray to the right of the nav screen and put your phone sim into it.
Normally, if you have your phone bluetooth enabled, the car bluetooth would try to pair automatically. If nothing appears on your phone, then their must be something in car not working. When I press "menu" on my system, I get 7 options(I think) and the icon nearest the steering wheel is the "telematics" one. I suspect you might have the same system and it's not bluetooth. Look for a vertical tray ( 25mm tall and 3-4 mm wide), that pulls out at the right of the screen and fit your phone sim in there. Fire up the car and the system should recognise the sim and read your contacts. You should then be able to set up voice control for when your on the move. Of course, if you have the newer bluetooth system, then all I've said is a load of tosh.

I downloaded the manual, but a lot of it is pretty meaningless as it covers a multitude of different options, and doesn't cover lots of stuff in my 2008 2.2 Exclusive.
Look at the CD slot right hand side, you should see the letters GSM. Directly under that, you should see a pull out tray about 25 mm tall and 3-4 mm wide. It is not obvious at a glance so you need to check properly. The upright (Vertical) tray is a bit hard to get hold of and the first time I used it, I had to get hold of it with a small pliers but you should be able to pull it out if you have strong fingers. If you have this little pull out plastic bit, then you don't have bluetooth. Pull the tray out and you will see where the SIM card fits.
The system was changed to proper bluetooth in 2009 I think, or maybe 2010.

Look to the right side of the CD slot (The Chrome strip) Directly underneath the end of the slot is the vertical pull-out tray . It's just too the right of the menu control knob.

Save your photo in photo bucket (free to join) and when you copy the image code to your post it will come up OK. There is a maximum size if you try to upload from your hard drive I think.

MMmmm, seem odd. Do you have a "Phone" button on the steering wheel?.
I would question the garage on this to be honest. A car with Sat nav and no phone preparation would be unusual.

Perhaps a new thread with a plea to owners of the same age and spec. car to see if anyone can help with this.

As far as I can see from the various C5 brochures of that era, if it's got a built in sat nav then an '08 C5 will have Bluetooth built in, if it's not got a built in sat nav then it won't have Bluetooth.
Hope that helps.
