I can confirm the need for a breaker bar, and it needs to be a good long one. Several months ago I had to replace the reluctor rings on Gracie, and when I tried to move the hub nuts all I did was to move my blood pressure to headache level! Thanks to CitroJim and his massive breaker bar the hub nuts came undone with no arguments, and we got both rings dealt with. Gracie has not complained about them since.

The boot is broken, it's old, it needs a new proper one,
Don't bother messing about trying to botch it as the 'experts' suggest,
It has to be renewed so do it.
The hub nut isn't that big a deal (for a man that is)
The world is full of them and a lot are in

I used a stretchy boot and a have a draper cone that I have had for years. 10 minute job. Undo the hub nut with a breaker bar or windy gun, shaft out. cut old boot off - heat new one in boiling water to make it extra supple, turn inside out, spray grease on the cone - big pull and bobs yer unc! Slap in the grease -New cable ties Sorted :-D

I set fire to one of mine removing the ball joints. Got mine from a motor factor for about £8 from memory ( I needed it then & there!)

Never had problems with stretchy boots and cable ties!. Glue up things are the devils creation - if you don't get stuck to it you get a pin hole in the seam which leaks. Massive PITA. Do you even get them anymore?
