Yes we was right it was the back breaks. It was pads. One of them was rubbing metal to metal. We gt new pads and discs.

BUT

the retaing bolt snapped off. When we was taking it off. Wheres the best place to get one. How much they cost. Allwoods said we need to get one from main dealer

If it is the bolt that holds the pads in situ, then this is what you need;

http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Citro ... c4d&000416" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and has all the parts for both sides. You might need to get them ordered in, and inspect them BEFORE you leave the branch. I found that the first set I ordered had a split bag (and bits missing). The next day the set that arrived was intact, and had been checked before I got to the branch.

How are the callipers? Are they lined up correctly, or has the calliper corrosion shown up?

I wouldn't know about Citroen, as I got mine from ECP (cheaper). Even with dealerships some parts have to be ordered in.

Sorry, but what is a 40?

Ah, right. Sorry, but there you have me stumped, as I have no knowledge of Peugeot cars (although I run a Pug Partner van, company supplied), and it has drums on the back.

Don't forget the copper grease when you fit the new bits. If you haven't already done so, smear some on the faces where the disk contacts the hub. Otherwise rust will build up over time, and bind the hub and disk together. This has happened on Gracie, and I am having to use Plus Gas (also available from ECP) over time to break down the rust so I can replace her disks.

Which bolt failed? Please let it be one in the kit I posted to!! otherwise you could be into a world of hurt. The two calliper bolts are high tensile (so they cannot be drilled out), and IIRC somebody on the forum snapped one of them, and MIG welded a nut onto it so that it could be undone.

No, as the handbrake works on the rears of the 406 so pads will be very different...
