Good news on getting the real bionics installed Davie
No, you won't get banned for liking a bit of BMW exotica... Now if it were a Vauxhall you were speaking of and liking then that would be a different matter

Good luck with the operation. Good to know that technology has moved on (and dropped in cost). We now have a Scottish 'Steve Austin', but I don't know what financial name to use. 'The Twenty Two Thousand Pound Man' doesn't have the right ring to it.

No hatred here. I love big German cars, Mercs and BMWs. Not keen on big Audis, as all they are is overpriced VWs. I think any (old- I mean 90s or earlier) BMW bigger than a 530 is acceptable. A friend of mine years ago in Greece had a selection of Merc W126 chauffeur driven 560s, in standard and Limo form. They were gorgeous cars and wonderful places to be inside.daviemck2006 wrote: Wait I do have car news, not french though, in fact I may get banned for swearing. I got a go of a mates 7 series BMW with a 4.4 V8 auto under the bonnet and every bell and whistle inside it last night.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Quite like the older 7-series but my personal favourite is the Mercedes CLS series. Not the current ones, which are admittedly very nice, but the precious ones. Someone in my street has had one for a year or so, must say hello to him one of these days.
They are so swoopy but sad looking.

Yes, exactly my thoughts. Why do they make such dour looking cars?myglaren wrote: They are so swoopy but sad looking.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I found all the modern Mercs look like that, even my dad's 2010 one looks miserable. I much preferred the mid-80s > Mid 90s ones that looked like they were made out of a solid block of steel and went like stink.CitroJim wrote:Yes, exactly my thoughts. Re: Davie's french attraction.
The said BMW is s reg I think and is immaculate with a low mileage for its age of 98k. It may be coming up for sale soon as it's disabled owner needs something to carry an electric wheelchair in. It's gonna be a big down step for hin from a v8 BMW to the likes of a Picasso auto or something like that.
My op went well, all done and dusted, although very tender. I'm not allowed to drive for this week, until I have a follow up check on Friday. I have to have 6 to 8 weeks of taking it easy then start building up my strength and getting some fitness back, although i shall never get to 100% i can be a heck of a lot better than i have been. I've had every other check known to mankind and all is ok so here's hoping for a better quality of life and maybe a return to work in the future. Things certainly looking up. No car news to report.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Good news on the op Davie. The beemer sounds a beauty, I had a spell in the nineties when I had a couple of e30 3 series 323i's and two E28 528i's with the manual box, very nice cars they were too.

I like the e30. It's the only 3 series BMW I would have. And if it were a touring that would be better. The idea of a 4.4 V8 auto would appeal to me, but the 20mpg wouldn't. My budget for fuel just now is £25 a week, which gets me about 200 miles and I do most of them. The same £25 would struggle to reach 100 miles . That would mean losing out on valuable family and friends time, and that I need to relieve the boredom of not working.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
That's a good point you make Davie. Much better to have enough petrol to visit family and friends rather than have a flashy motor

Re: Davie's french attraction.
50 mpg in a comfy car is what I need. Sometimes I wish I still had my wee 107, but then I wouldn't have the comfort I have now.
