If you no longer have the facilities to do the job Davie consider selling it at auction with Mathewsons for example. You will get it in front of a far bigger audience and get the best price that way. Mike Brewer is starting a new online auction as well where there are no fees to the seller. I had an email about it but I'm afraid I deleted that thinking I could easily search Mike Brewer auction to find it if I needed it! Good Luck

I certainly dont have the facilities or necessary skills to do it Mick, hence how it was farmed out 5 years ago. I also wouldnt want or be able to use it once done. When it was going back then I enjoyed it, but now due to my deteriorating health it would be no use to me. It's not my decision as to what happens to it, my son bought me out of it when it got re engined, so it is 100% his. I think he is more inclined to sell it rather than fix it. The problem with selling it is our location as always. I'm thinking if I was selling it I would list it on ebay as an unfinished project with delivery offered at £1.20 a mile, since it is already on the trailer.

I dont know what's happening with this now. I'm told it's worth 2 grand minimum the way it sits, and in a reasonable moted tidy runner condition maybe 7 to 8 grand and fully restored concourse conditioncould be 12 to 15 grand. There are some sold over 20 grand. I think it's going thrown at another welder and brought up to a decent tidy runner.

Certainly looks like its well worth spending 3-4k on it to still make a reasonable return!! :)

I don’t think it would. Hard seats, typical “small car/empty small van” quite bumpy ride, not great for the back.

That said, most cars give me backache eventually, and our C3 Pic never has. Ours is the 1.4 petrol, it’s averaging 38mpg, and is actually fun to drive.

Just thinking out loud here. I used to use earlier 205s I owned for deliveries. I suppose if I were to use the gti for deliveries would that count as fast food? It would count as my back going pingfuckit though!

One of my work colleagues has said her hubby will have a look at the 205 hopefully at the weekend to see if he will do the required welding. Once it is welded up I am ok with painting the sills, and Shaun can tackle the other mot stuff. Does anyone know how the sills are on a 205 gti? Are they black or body colour? Are they u dersealed leaving a dimpled finish ot are they smooth? I'd like to try to get them looking as original as possible.

Body coloured and the usual dimpled 'stonechip' finish typical of PSA cars of the era Davie :)

Fingers crossed the work colleague can do the necessary 🤞

If he doesn't want to do it Jim, I have been given the number of another guy to try. I would rather the guy I know myself did it, as the last guy who sat on it for years was recommended by a trusted fellow, who to be honest, regrets putting me in touch.

3 months since I sold the Leon to my boss for a shop car. In that 3 months it has done 9000 miles, thrashed, bashed and crashed. It has a scrape down the passenger side, looks like someone pulled into or out of a parking space catching the bumper of the next car, theres a bid scrape on one front bumper corner, every wheel is seriously kerbed, and yesterday the guy driving it (who we think is responsible for all the other mishaps) reversed hard into another car. The back bumper is all split and scratched. It has rapidly turned from a good, well looked after car to a neglected heap. I kind of expected that to happen, but not after just 3 months! Of course the big bump yesterday the guy owned up to, kind of had to really since the other car was occupied at the time, but noone has owned up th the other mishaps. It will be due a service too, I doubt if it will get that. They did not know what the yellow warning light for a soft tyre, or the one for no screenwash meant until they decided to ask me last week. It's just as well that I had no real attachment to that car, yes it was a good car, but soulless. I have money for it and moved on so it's just as well that it was a soulless car cos if it had been one I loved I would have been most upset. But then if it had been a car I did love I would not have sold it to the boss!

I dont even know how he could have reversed into another car. It has reversing sensors that you cant switch off, and turns the radio/CD right down when reversing. Sheer stupidity I expect. The guy is a nice enough lad but I wouldnt get in the car with him

Hopefully the idiot is getting handed the bills for repair.
Always a shame to see something once owned abused and ruined. We had a similar experience with the last house and wooded garden we owned in the UK. Fortunately, it's changed hands again, so perhaps some more sympathetic owners.
As the saying goes "Never go back...". Bit difficult, though, when the old car keeps making an appearance.
Not good.
