I didn't know there was a delivery firm that thought they were "Invincible"! :D Or a firm that went by the (translated) name of "Giant". :D

My first Activa had been written off at 3 years old, before I got it by hitting a badger. There was £5500 worth of repair bills in a folder.

OUCH!!! It could have been worse though. I heard of a Lancia Beta hitting a shrew and then completely falling apart in a shower of rust. The shrew (after treatment for shock and minor cuts and bruises) made a full recovery.

Maybe not if you wish to see it again!

Parcels around here are going missing like there's no tomorrow judging by posts in our local Facebook group... One company in particular are getting a lot of mentions...

They managed to lose one of mine back in November...
Obviously I don’t doubt that yours was genuinely lost, but I know from my own experience as a part-time Amazon delivery driver that there are, at present, a lot of lying customers! Last time I did some 3 weeks ago, I got the usual “we had 3 customers say you marked their package as delivered but didn’t receive it” email. I know for a fact I delivered every single one! The Amazon flex groups are full of part-timers complaining about this.

Amazon will either replace or refund pretty much immediately so there’s no surprise it’s happening a lot in current times.

I agree that Amazon, when there is a problem (and certainly when they are, in part, to blame), deal with the problem very quickly. My HOTAS was stolen from my doorstep on a Thursday (and the delivery information showed as "Handed to recipient") and the replacement arrived that Sunday, three days later.

Here is the way to do it :

“Shaun, shift your (-expletive removed-) car in the next 7 days or I’ll have it picked up and scrapped”.

No bluffing. If it’s not gone, then do it. It’ll stop him taking the p**s again too.

A lot of the problem is the rules that Amazon apply to their delivery contractors - the permies like my mate Pete all work for subbies who get fined and lose money for failed or missing deliveries. This leads to the drivers cutting corners. Pete insists on doing everything by the book but he’s usually then got 10 or 15 to reattempt at the end of the day due to people not being in, and some to return to the depot. Most don’t do this..

Your comments are too generalised, "Hermes are Sh**" has not been my experience, I've used them for all my deliveries since joining Ebay some ten years ago and never had a parcel go missing.

Amazon on the other hand delivered to me a slow cooker from my daughter in the States followed quickly by a second one addressed to me but with a greetings message inside for someone else, a sort of "Best wishes to Bert and Doris" slip. I told Amazon about and they replied "If it's addressed to you it must be yours." so I'd guess Bert and Doris didn't get their gift.

My young neighbours enjoyed the spare slow cooker I gave to them after giving up on Amazon taking it back. :-D

Same subject cropping up on a number of threads recently, and the normal whinge fests of facebook and the Jeremy Vine show...maybe it needs a thread of its own! I'm with Gibbo maybe its a rural/urban thing not a problem with RM, or any of the Couriers for us, and our hermes guys are top notch both local ex RM and know the customers and the area like the back of their hand.

I have found the problem. Ballast swapped with other side and it works, other side doesn't. The ballast unit itself costs £372 from Seat! They are on ebay for £45 so a cheap chinese ebay one it is then.
