The quoted repair bill was something like nine grand -
OUCH!!! It could have been worse though. I heard of a Lancia Beta hitting a shrew and then completely falling apart in a shower of rust. The shrew (after treatment for shock and minor cuts and bruises) made a full recovery.Michel wrote: 16 Dec 2020, 08:30My first Activa had been written off at 3 years old, before I got it by hitting a badger. Obviously I don’t doubt that yours was genuinely lost, but I know from my own experience as a part-time Amazon delivery driver that there are, at present, a lot of lying customers! Last time I did some 3 weeks ago, I got the usual “we had 3 customers say you marked their package as delivered but didn’t receive it” email. I know for a fact I delivered every single one! The Amazon flex groups are full of part-timers complaining about this.CitroJim wrote: 15 Dec 2020, 18:25Maybe not if you wish to see it again!Michel wrote: 15 Dec 2020, 16:06 I bet you could get the light down here from the frozen North for less than a tenner with one of the usual sources off parcelmonkey these days..
Parcels around here are going missing like there's no tomorrow judging by posts in our local Facebook group... One company in particular are getting a lot of mentions...
They managed to lose one of mine back in November...
I agree that Amazon, when there is a problem (and certainly when they are, in part, to blame), deal with the problem very quickly. My HOTAS was stolen from my doorstep on a Thursday (and the delivery information showed as "Handed to recipient") and the replacement arrived that Sunday, three days later.Michel wrote: 16 Dec 2020, 08:35Obviously I don’t doubt that yours was genuinely lost, but I know from my own experience as a part-time Amazon delivery driver that there are, at present, a lot of lying customers! Amazon will either replace or refund pretty much immediately so there’s no surprise it’s happening a lot in current times.
Here is the way to do it :daviemck2006 wrote: 14 Dec 2020, 02:16 Gosh, a while since I've been on here. Sons 107 is still sitting on my drive in bits. Me and him have had a falling out over it.
A lot of the problem is the rules that Amazon apply to their delivery contractors - the permies like my mate Pete all work for subbies who get fined and lose money for failed or missing deliveries. This leads to the drivers cutting corners. Pete insists on doing everything by the book but he’s usually then got 10 or 15 to reattempt at the end of the day due to people not being in, and some to return to the depot. Most don’t do this..Hell Razor5543 wrote: 16 Dec 2020, 08:38I agree that Amazon, when there is a problem (and certainly when they are, in part, to blame), deal with the problem very quickly.
