Gosh, it's a couple months since I looked at my own blog! Probably cos I have nothing to report on it :-D The leon and c1 both just keep doing what they are supposed to do. The c1 ticked over 10000 miles last week, that's me done as much miles in a few months as the first owner did in 3 years. The continental eco contacts on it are thoroughly horrible objects and are getting binned any day now. Fronts are maybe 1/2 worn but getting quite pershied which I really dont like. The reardhave tread as new but the perishing is starting on them too. I have acquired a set of nice alloys for it with no tyres for a measly £40, and I have got a bargain from a local young lad off gumtree of 4 brand new only bought 2 weeks ago and never fitted coz he wrote off his car toyo proxes t1r for under £100. I was going to get my favoured uniroyals but this was too good to turn down, and these are the latest toys with a tread pattern near identical to the uniroyal and with an A rating for wet grip. Should be miles ahead of the contis which now have negligible grip in the wet.

I actually put the leon I to a garage for a service and timing belt/water pump change. It's the first time I have got routine work done at a garage for many years! My abilities to work on cars are decreasing arthritis in my hands which is going to be operated on has put paid to them working properly to go along with the back and leg that doesnt work properly either. Noone told me that this getting older would hurt so much. At least I am still able to do the deliveries a couple nights a week.

However, forever being me my fleet has expanded, albeit temporarily. I got offered a pug 307sw at a very decent price so it is now here. It's a 2008 1.6hdi SE. It's a really nice car actually, fully loaded with all the toys and a panoramic glass roof. Mot for 6 months, excellent condition 107k covered but no history at all. I'm not keeping it though, it's going up for sale at £900 one hoping to get 800. That will pay for the tyres for the c1 :-D

Oooh if that Pug was a bit closer I'd have it Davie!

Getting old is s**t. I've got all sorts of broken bits and aches and pains. My ankle surgery hasn't made much difference either.

However, not getting old.. that would be worse :)

Cheap flight to Aberdeen Mike and 8 hours drive, I would even fuel it for you. I'll get the bus home. I'm away to take pics then wait for the v5 to appear before doing for sale ads

Must say I wouldn't be put off by the distance, for something I really wanted AND from someone I know.

I will be doing a for sale ad when the v5 appears. I am not really expecting a sale coming up to christmas though. However I will be quite happy using it for a few months before moving it on in the spring with a new test. By that time I will have found out it's good points and bad points so I can do a fair advert.

Nice to see an update and in it you keeping up the tradition of putting different wheels on your cars, how do you always manage to get them at such a good price? Looking forward to a picture of that.

The Pug SW sounds good as well I've always fancied how they look and one with a pan roof sounds great, you should have no trouble selling at that sort of price. I can also say that flying up to Aberdeen and driving back is very doable, nice drive back too!

Normally I wouldn't, but the fact I struggle to drive more than 30min without a lot of pain in my recently operated ankle puts the kibosh on that. No problem riding a motorbike all day, but car.. no way.

I seem to be using the 307 by choice since I taxed it. It's the panoramic roof, I just love the airy ness it gives inside it. I love glass roofs. I would rather have a glass sunroof before air con any day. And on the different wheels thing, the seat had horrible 16" alloys as standard and when it needed two tyres I found a sat of skoda17" ones with good tyres for what two new tyres were going to cost. My lock up has so many sets of wheels in it now theres no room for a car in it!

This is what made buying a Volvo C30 so difficult as almost none of the facelifts have a sunroof (not as good as pan roof, but it does open!) also the one I bought has different wheels (from a V40) so a subtle difference from the rest.
Still keen to see some pics of yours

I'm officially annoyed, at myself. I'm usually very good on wheels and tyres. I bought the alloys a while ago as they were next to nothing. I bought the 4 new tyres, got them fitted onto the wheels. Went to fit them yesterday and discovered they dont fit. They are 4 x 108 which is what most peugeot and citroen are. However because the c1 is basically a toyota they are 4 x 100. I knew this it's my own fault for not checking the wheels before I got the tyres fitted. So the c1 still wears its standard wheels and horrid continental eco tyres, and I have a decent set of wheels and new tyres that are of no use to me just now.

Bad luck Davie, still you've survived worse - & I'm sure something suitable x 4 (or even 5) will turn up for ridiculously cheap - possibly just after Christmas, early in the New Year.

After the royal p-i-t-a putting the Xantia's front wheel back on (solid centres, deeply recessed bolts & short "spokes" - what 1/2-wit combined those features in a single wheel?) I've decided, once everything else is sorted, I'll stop looking for a 5th wheel (no, no artic cracks, please) to replace the steel spare & start looking for a more practical design - although nothing springs to mind.

The 307sw that recently came into my possession is leaving on Sunday. It is being replaced, by something that is so not me. But it is an itch that needs scratching. And I will have to brace myself for about 20 mpg "economy". I have always said I would never have a car of this marque, but a deal struck that the pug goes one way and this comes this way. This will make me certified insane! Better than being clinically insane again though!
