Ask if they have CCTV at that Tesco Davie, might give you the means to claim against them.

They havent any. I did ask. The dent isnt very big but right on the ridge round the wheelarch. I will take the arch liner out then see it I can get the dent out. I suppose that will probably break every fixing for the arch liner.

Although it will not help you now, Lidl (this coming Sunday) are doing, amongst other car related stuff, a dash cam for £40.

I know how you feel, my C15's a shed but the damage it's suffered whilst parked really get to me - I suppose (in my case) 'cos it's no longer "as found".

Unfortunately, this sort of thing is not done by people with no conscience but people with no ability to form coherent thoughts; I am now quite convinced they have no idea/understanding/realisation of what they have done - & probably blame someone else when (if?) they subsequently discover their own damage.

Well nearly 2 years to the day since I got Gabby from Citrojim it has left me. She is not going to be on the road again, she has been bought by a friend of a friend to be puggerised. Its engine and gearbox is going to find it's way into a 206 diesel whose non turbo engine died. I have been going to scrap her for months but couldnt bring myself to get her crushed. At least this way, although that's another xantia bites the dust, that parts of her will live on keeping another car going. I hadent started her for about 3 months, and with jump leads on, two heat cycles of the glowplugs and she started first kick. It's on a near 100% veg in the tank as far as I remember. That's freed up a space on my drive, which I have no intention of filling. The next one will not be long going, the caddy van is due a MOT next month, it is getting tested then sold. It's been more often broken than it has been working, its tale of woe reads a smashed gearbox, replacement box and used solid flywheel and clutch, a blown turbo, left driveshaft broken which I think was due to the mechanic not fitting it correctly, and the right driveshaft is now clicking on lock so needs replaced too.thats about £800 in repairs for 3500 miles. It's not that it's a high mileage thing either, it's only on 113000. So that will get mot, sills tidied up with bodyshutz and made SEP.

The tho cars are both working flawlessly, certainly as the c1 should having only covered 7800 miles, and the leon should be too having done 68000 miles. The c1 is clocking up the miles quicker than the leon, it does the food runs at the weekend. The c1 was outside the shop for 15 minutes about 5pm on Friday, I came out to a note stuck on the window saying sorry I scraped your car. It's barely noticeable but it's one of my pet hates bumper corner scraped. I phoned the number and it was a young girl and crying down the phone so I told her not to worry about it. A touch in pen, really fine sandpaper and then t cut should fix it. I dont want the bumper sprayed because being bright red it will never match properly. That's a dent and a scrape on the newest car I have had for many years! Bloody typical!

This is great to see there's still some honesty left in the world (from her) and some humanity left (from you). Nice one Davie. :D

I do not know about the electro valves, but the car is a sensation which is a poverty spec with a fancy name as far as I know so will have tha basic suspension. The leather is away with the car, but is coming back my way when it gets broken. I fancy trying to adapt the fronts to go into the c1. That is probably a pipe dream, but you never know!

Well less than 24 hours after moving on one citroen I have gone and agreed to buy another. However it's not for me, it's for a very good friend whose poxhall zafira disintegrated in clouds of smoke a couple of weeks ago. It's a 2009 58 plate xsara picasso. Done 83K, it failed its mot for rusty sills, but is off getting welded and a new mot to be collected on Thursday. In previous MOTs it has only ever failed 2, for tyres and screen washer. Every other MOT has been a clean pass. It also has a full dealer history. The only worry is that it is a 1.6hdi 16v. Yes the ones that are prone to turbo issues. It will get oil and filters done pretty quickly, and the tightness of the injector rail checked on friday before she gets it. Should be a good car though. The amount of them I checked if there are any that have not had their sills welded then that is a job it will need very soon.

It's the 04 onwards ones that rot Davie, the earlier ones like the 03 one I have outside are usually solid.
I'm not sure what changed in 04.

I'm about to buy an Audi A4 ragtop...

Well I'll shed a tear over Gabby's demise because you just beat me to her, which is not to say that I wouldn't have ended up in the self same position.
If Zel can fit a Xantia seat into the Invacar, you should have nae problem getting 2 into a C1.

Still too early in the year to buy a ragtop - unless you're banking on an Indian Summer :)

Aye it's a shame shes gonna die, but I suppose all good things come to an end. She needed a clutch, a heater matrix, the fuel pump reconditioned or replaced, engine mount replaced, and hydraulic leak traced and fixed. I am not in a great physical state for doing those big jobs and they would have cost far too much for me to pay to get done. So Its engine and box going elsewhere, and the guy knows it needs a clutch while out and that it has a fuel leak. But he can do these things, and I had tried to sell her for getting sorted to no avail. It's better bits getting used than becoming bean cans. And up here noone pays for scrap cars, the best I was getting was a tenner. If I manage to cajole the seats into the c1, because noone will get into the back, I may black out the back windows and remove the back seats and turn it into a mini van. Then I suppose my insurance will increase the premium drastically. Ita already bumped up due to the claim last year from the deer committing suicide on the front of my leon, and bumped up again as I use it for hot food deliveries and have declared that. So in reality it's probably highly unlikely that the c1 will get touched.

The dealer that I'm buying this one from says the water gets under into the sills and gets under the underseal around the jacking points, which causes holes. He has shifted a lot of them and says the same as you, it's the later ones which are worst. Once welded up it will be ok though. If I can get a way in it will get a can of dinitrol inside each sill before my friend gets it. I am only taking cost price from her for it, well in money anyway  :) :bouncy: :dom:

No, the early ones go as well - our 52 plate had to be welded when it was only 7 years old, and it was a BIG hole in the sill when I finally poked it  I think they just blocked the drain holes when they built them, and the water doesn't escape.
