One of those really annoying things. Why can't we re-wind real life?

If it makes you feel any better, I first dinged my 107 only a few months after buying it. ....that was it for the next eight years!

Managed to reverse it into a Mitsubishi L200 felt a right idiot.

Bigpug is still sitting abandoned at the back of the drive. The battery is flat, mot out. I dont know what to do with it, if I put it to puegeot It could cost a lot, and none of the local garages want to touch it and I dont have a clue..

I’d nearly do that, even the local scrappies don’t want it and car take back offered £7!

My daughter is changing her old A4. I was the guy who told her to get rid of it, after the near £400 of parts it needed for its MOT. The biggest reason is because it is now clonking from the front left suspension, and you feel it when sitting in the passenger seat. After the major problems it was replacing three suspension arms, the hub carrier, and trackrod end on the drivers side, both myself and my son in law said no we are not doing it. Not even looking at it. Thats on top of the drivers window that does not work, the boot that only opens occasionally, and the usual VAG front wings which have been filled and rattle canned by me but really need replaced. So I now have the job of disposing of it. Anyone want a cheap a4tdi estate? Cracking engine and gearbox and solid underneath, just the aforementioned problems. So she is replacing it with another VAG, a seat leon 1.6 tdi se tourer with only 22k on the clock. I actually quite like them so I hope it is a good car.

On to a problem I have had for a while, my son. As regular readers of my blog knows he is a pain in the arse. He packed up his job a few months ago and has been sponging off me. He is showing no signs of looking for a new job. His 107 is still not working 9 months after getting a replacement engine. He has sold everything else he owns. He has debt collectors chasing him. He got the keys of my 205 and went off in it with his mates, got stopped by the police, charged with no insurance and the car got impounded. It cost me £150 to get it back. He bumped a front corner and cracked the bumper. They were smoking weed when they were stopped so the car was searched, the coppers broke some trim clips inside. There is a drugs marker placed on the car indefinitely. I have been trying to be nice, angry, help him, point him in a better direction, I even got him a job with a mate of mine and he only lasted a week. To say I am disgusted with him is an understatement. So for his 24th birthday last week, his present was take the house keys off him, his clothes into black bags and a size 11 up his arse on his way out. I have no idea where he is, and to be honest just now I dont care. I, and his sisters, and his mother have tried and tried with him, he needs to find some sort of responsibility for himself instead of scrounging everything out of my house, fridge, cupboards ets. Im really not feeling good about it, about him or about me dumping him, but I had to do it. I just hope this works and he sorts himself out.

There are some people you just cannot help. Forcing them to sort themselves out is, realistically, the best thing that can be done for them. Either they get their head straight, or they don't. Evolution.

Well James, he is past the stage of any of us being able to help him, and to be honest has been for a while, so the only realistic option was the order of the boot. If it sorts him out thats great, and if not, well most families have a black sheep in them somewhere, I have a brother who is and always has been a waster, so if Shaun ends up a waster then as you say evolution, or as I say s**t happens.

May be the push he needs Davie.
Otherwise, as has already been mentioned, you just can't help some people.

Sorry to hear it has come to that though.

Sorry to read it, Davie. I agree with the others . . . you have done probably the best thing, painful though it is. He has to learn to stand on his own feet, and not scrounge off others. How it turns out is unknown, but you have a life to live, too, and can't keep picking up the pieces for ever.
I would have done the same in your position.
