I have just boarded a city link gold coach in Aberdeen to get to Glasgow. These things are super comfy, and take less time than the train. And you get complementary hot drinks and biscuits. And the best bit, for me its free! The train is over 100 quid, I think the fare for this is about 50, so even if I had to pay for it, which I would prefer cos then I would not have a knackered body, I would still take the bus. The forecast is for snow, i hope that doesnt arrive, I have to change at glasgow, get a train from there to carslile then drive 300 miles home. I think the M74 from carslile to glasgow is not a good place to be in the snow. At least I know, from many previous miles in previous 107's that they are good in the snow

Excellent stuff Davie :)

That coach is how trains should be...

I regularly see the X5 coach that runs between Oxford and Cambridge via MK and that boasts leather seats, WiFi, USB charging, Swedish masseuses and complementary banquets...

It's posher than a C6, a Roller, a Bentley and an Aston all rolled into one...

The irony is that this coach does the journey several hundred times a day along the exact route of the long-closed 'Varsity Line' railway line...

Safe journey, enjoy the coach ride and have a great drive back in the 107 :)

That was an excellent coach journey. There was luxury everywhere, a lovely lady servi g teas and coffees, she was lovely but had hands like spades and an Adams apple to go with her boobs lol. Good on her I say for being brave enough to live as she wants. I wouldn't have the courage to do that! 1 hour to wait in Glasgow central train station to get train to Carlisle. I would have got a coach again, but not one until 10pm this evening. Crazy different prices, Scotrail need over £100 from Aberdeen to Glasgow, just paid £10.30 to Virgin for Glasgow to Carslile. Maybe Richard Branson isn't that bad after all lololo

This train is uncomfortable, bumpy and rocking about all over the place. Coach travel much better.

The problem with the coaches on the X5 Jim are twofold.

1. The ride isn't anything like it should be in a coach. In the interests of trying to get every possible centimetre out of ever litre of diesel I have to guess, they are set up so that the ride is absolutely bone-jarringly harsh.

2. They have the most stupidly infuriating robotised manual gearbox. This is set up such that you're in about fourth gear by the time you're half way around a roundabout - and takes far longer to change between gears than a competent driver would manage. ...Heck, I could change gear quicker and smoother even on a clapped out old Bedford Y series...Granted, probably not on a Ford F-series...though I don't think anyone knows where the gears are in those...

Which is a real shame as the fit and finish is really quite nice and the seats almost manage to just about pass as comfortable.

That looks really tidy Davie, what a great buy! (even if it does have the shopping trolley handle spoiler)

Stopped for a rest. It's hard work driving straight up lol. I decided to check the tyre pressures. I did check oil and water before I left, they were fine. Tyre pressures were all between 22 and 26. Duly corrected. It's a noisy bugger, I can't decide if the racket from the rear is the horrible continental eco crap tyres that I hate on these things, or if there is a bit of wheel bearing noise. I don't think it will be wheel bearing, these things are noisy and I haven't been in the black for a long time now, too used to xantia peace and quiet! That will be me too now referring to black and white, the tales of two 107s

They are just noisy.

Some tyres seem to create a very wheel-bearing like droning at speed I've found too. The last set I put on mine did it, took me ages to figure that out!
