It’s just the left side Alasdair. Jim I have messaged you elsewhere, don’t worry about it, and I mean that. It’s not into the seam so just a straightforward patch which won’t cost a lot. Otherwise it’s just a couple of bushes and a ballpoint. It’s no big deal. Don’t worry about it she’s still worth every penny of what I gave you, especially considering the spares you left in her and already fitted

Jim, I thought that Davie would have that attitude. You would either not have sold Gabby if you knew that there were those problems with her, or you would have got them resolved first. Davie also clearly realises that, and has just said so. However, it is always a bit of a sod when you find out that something you sold on in good faith has an issue (even if you didn't know about it).

Interesting it's gone there Davie - they usually go closer to the join! Anyway, shouldn't be too bad to repair. P bushes can be a pain - make sure who ever is doing them is either careful with the roll bar, or removes the link to the height corrector, otherwise it can screw up the suspension height! Ball joints can be very very tight....
I did a p bush on the activa last year, it’s not really a difficult job so there’s not much really.

Thanks Davie, message seen elsewhere, that's appreciated... Truth is I'm still so badly wounded following the Activa affair... That did a great deal of damage to me and that damage is mostly irreparable...
Hence the initial response.
It's a sure thing I'll never, ever sell another car again - except to a scrapyard.

Any car that I buy is going to have issues develop, and any I sell is going to develop issues, that what happens when you only have old cars and change them frequently like I do. I had a budget allowed for mot on top of the purchase price and the bits it needs will not push it over the top of that budget so all is fine.

Davie, that's even better I must admit that whenever I've bought any car I've always factored in the fact it'll cost me to get it sorted out sooner or later and so far I've not been proved wrong
The good thing is that expense now will mean you can enjoy a relatively long period of time before more is needed - that's always been my previous experience...

Ok, the door shut. My welder has seen it and says that it not nearly as bad as my activa was, the inside bits are solid, its only the outer skin that needs a patch, which is quite easy. So I wont need Alasdairs repair section he cut out (even though its the right colour lol). Ive just told him to do the bushes and one balljoint too. I would bet that Graham possibly wouldnt be so hard if it wasnt my car, he has been told for years if its a car of mine to be hard on it, and if it is a testers discretion thing then fail it rather than advise it so it has to be done and therfore the car being right. On the bright side he was impressed with the general condition underneath, saying its obviously been a car that has been well looked after, and not from this salt laden hell hole! Its cleaner and fresher than many 5 or 6 year old car! I would have been very surprised had I put it in for test and had passed with no issues. Jim, i shall re-iterate do not feel bad about this. It is only two bushes, one balljoint and one small patch. Its very little really for a 19 year old car with 210000 miles covered. I bought her knowing that shes an old thing and will need maintainence. It doesnt need nearly so much spent on it as the activa needed soon after purchase when the clutch went. Im still happy with her and shes still a lovely old thing.

Balls...sorry to hear she's needing a patch there. Not surprised it's that side though as that's the one that was missing the wheel arch cap when I got the car.
Other than that not a bad result for a car of the age! As you say, the rust doesn't seem to have got into the seam, so shouldn't be too bad to sort hopefully.

It just goes to show how much the people on this forum care. Not only does the previous owner of a vehicle feel unhappy when a car has a problem, so does the owner prior to that! Can anybody show me another car forum with people who care so much?

It does James and it's great to see Renews your faith in people greatly. Shame when selling my Activa I was unfortunate enough to find one of the very few bad apples in the crop
I spent yesterday in a terrible state and was almost at crash-point as a result I was still upset and stressed this morning but I'm a little better now after a good run and a cycle to work.
First thing I did was to offer Davie his money back.
