I do have a rotary attachment for slabs etc, but i don't want to touch the top of the wings just now so don't know it it's accurate enough.

Bonnet open while you do the edges? Or shut a couple of sheets under it?

Im sure I'll think of something. I'm hoping the couple of localised spots on the top of the wings will be ok with a quick rub down and spot of lacquer. I will get her looking better! While you are here Zel, what is the what looks like a phone extension socket in the drivers footwell, and is it also something to do with the micro phone on the drivers screen pillar?

Pretty sure it is Davie. It was all hanging out when I got the car, I stuffed it largely back behind the trim filing it under the "to remove later" category - and promptly forgot about it!

DAVIE, my take on the roof/bonnet would be to dry sand them back with a da-sander and 3M sanding pads. (always use the best pads/prevent clogging).
My reasoning on this is that the colour coat is porous, if you pressure wash it you will add moisture, moisture will need both time and heat to remove completely (not just visually), moisture will/can make lacquer cloudy and make "wrap" lift at the edges/bubble particularly when the sun gets on it.

Thanks for the advice Alasdair. I was thinking more along the lines of trying to get the flaky lacquer off dry, hence my thought of duck tape taking off the loose stuff, and then sanding it to provide a sound base for whatever i do on top of it, which is far from decided.

I did see a video on you tube of someone removing flaky lacquer with duck tape. Thats why i think that will be the first attack on it. Then a sand down which shouldnt really need a lot of, then the wrap/plastidip whatever i decide.
