I used to get about 650miles from a Xantia TD with a full tank on a run. That was driving normally rather than fast or economically which would change it a fair bit. I miss that economy, the V6 can't quite match it.

Gabs is nice Davie, I've been to Norwich in her and can verify the interior is like new, she pulls well and rides well. Everything is in good clean order for a Xantia except for her lacquer

I'm looking forward to hitting the road about this time tomorrow. The driving position of the activa was perfect for me, I'm expecting the same or maybe even better with the leather. The lacquer peel concerns me not a bit. I'm really thinking yellow and black, more likely plastidip than wrap. My son in law did a mx5 in black plastidip and it looks ok. It came out a satin black sort of thing

I'm 334 miles into my journey home after an overnight stop, and first pit stop today. And Gabby is supremely comfortable, very sure footed through some really heavy showers on the M6 yesterday and doesn't seem to drink much fuel.
It was filled up at Milton Keynes yesterday and still near 3/4 tank left. By this time when I did this journey in the Activa it was well into its 2nd tank of petrol. I haven't been pushing on, but not hanging about either, steady 70 to 75 on the speedo all the way. I am impressed!

And she is a nice place to sit it with her unmarked leathers :-D

Davie, I'm delighted you're finding her OK :D

I do honestly think she's the best 1.9TD on the planet...

She is home

Theres the miles covered, and fuel used. Steady 70 to 75 on the motorwayswhich was about 520 of those miles. She really does cruise like a 21k car, not a 210k car. Absolutely amazing mechanically and interior, a real credit to jims ownership, and Zels before him, as he did remedial work to her too. I am now in two minds about the crazy wrap ideas, or a full respray in the original dante red. I may price up a respray, and if I go this route it will be a decent one not a quick chuck a pot of paint on it. Its comfier than the 407...........

Sounds like the 2 of you have bonded nicely on your first journey.
Welcome back to proper suspension.

Glad you're both there safe. Sorry I didn't get a chance to stop by on Sunday.

Told you she was a cracking old motor didn't I and that the mileage had to be seen to be believed.

The view from my bedroom window today :-D Excuse the bmws and subaru across the road. The guy has as bad as an affiliation as I have! Ive just thought a problem. He has a red m3 with the bonnet and roof wrapped black. Do I care? No! For me an elderly xantia td is better for me than his highly strung m3  Im struggling today, but have to work at 4pm so just sitting doing nowt, even though I have stuff to do.

They look jolly good together Davie :)

I have to agree about Xantia vs. M3... No contest on many levels...

Hope work goes OK this evening... After what you've just done I think I'd need more than just a sit-down!

The 407 coupe is more in the mould of an m3, his BMW is probably worth about 7 grand and dates from 2004, my 407 about 2 grand from 2007. I will have 2 pugs and 10 citroens for his m3 lol

My boss says he is going to come visit me in jail. Why will I be in jail? For stealing a xantia :rofl2: In his opinion it needs the paintwork correction and alloys. Well if it goes lairy colours it will get my 17" wolf race alloys on to it. Knowing me it will get them anyway :x
