Re: Davie's french attraction.
More than 300 cars there. It was in a new venue, venue only got changed 3 weeks ago due to the council banning them from previous grass area due to damage caused by some other show. It was a fantastic effort finding somewhere big enough and tarred then sorting it out all in 3 weeks. And the weather was kind too!

Re: Davie's french attraction.
There are some minor scratches on the bonnet mainly, a guy told me to paint the bonnet. I am not painting it, unless it goes rusty. I think painting it will take away the originality of it, and probably wont be an exact colour match, and spoil it. Im not going for concurs, its very good condition, better than bigpug I may say and thats good enough for me. The gti front valance was painted by myself from rattlecans, its good enough for where it is down there.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I changed the starter motor on my friends c1. Peugeot wanted something silly like over 300quid for a starter motor! I got one out of a 13000 mile 15 plate c1 1.0 for 30. Ok thats the newer model but the engine is the same, therfore the starter the same. A relatively painless job, two bolts and two wiring connections. The smaller connection was a circular bit onto a little bolt on the old one, a spade connector on the new one. Even though my electrical skills are not good that did not push the boundaries of my knowledge lol. Gave the car a check over while it was here. This is the c1 I bought a few months ago for my friend. She absolutely loves it, and with I think only 65000 on the clock it drives better than our 107, although being a "vibe" it is sparsely equipped with no air con, leccy windows or remote locking. For a budget car though and only short runs its perfect.
While I was doing the car she weeded my front garden. I am not a gardener and have neglected it the last two years. She likes gardening and only (just) knows how to look after a car so fair exchange. I keep an eye on the car, she weeds my garden. Win win situation. She doesnt pay a garage, I dont pay a gardener.

I wish the job on the 1.6 HDi was that straight forward, then I might not be crossing my fingers every time I try and start the 307, wondering how many goes it will take before it cranks

Re: Davie's french attraction.
The eagle eyed may notice the lack of a pug 205gti undergoing restoration on my signature. Shaun has became totally fed up of the guy who was "doing" the work, went and retrieved it on a trailer and sold it. The guy is not getting a penny for the prep work he has done, it has been there nearly 2 years which is ridiculous when he said it would be a month or two. My patience would not have lasted so long.

That's a shame Davie... I hope he sold it to a good home and for a four figure sum - it's what they're worth now...

That's a shame in a way about the GTI, but enough is enough! It's not like you don't have other projects!

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I dont know where to or for how much. I helped him buy it back then, but he paid me back long ago so it was his. I also helped with the 107, and technically I do still own 1/4 of it, but I would think it, although 12 plate, due to mileage, no official service history although we know its well serviced, a bit abused, bumper knocks etc a 1/4 of it really does not add up to much! And I did add to the abuse doing 15000 miles in 7 months delivering food lol

Re: Davie's french attraction.
In 24 hrs time I shall be stepping out of Luton Airport into FakeConcerns XM to get a lift to Little Horwood, where I shall become the new custodian of Gabby. What am I expecting? A cosmetically challenged but not rusty red xantia with a near perfect black leather interior, and mechanically in fine fettle, althouh the clutch nearing the end of life. A super comfortable and uneventful run home with an overnight stop thrown in somewhere and not using too much diesel. The last xantia I drove that distance was my own activa, it gave the comfortable uneventful trip, but used two full tanks of fuel, probably would have used less if I hadnt been cruising at 1xxmph the whole length of the M74 lol, this one i am hoping to do it on 1 tank of fuel. I have just about recovered from last weeks travelling, I am working this evening untill 10pm, have to be up at 6am to get a lift to Inverness Airport, about 65 miles distance so I am expecting another few days of recovery next week!
So the berlingo only really has one more night to survive. It has 3 weeks mot on it, things I know it needs are, back axle, back brake shoes, probably back brake pipes, one rear light, clonking from front probably drop links, sand I think thats about it. If it wasnt for the axle I would test it, but I cant be arsed doing another berlingo axle. They are not that difficult to do, but heavy and not nice lying on your back in the almost permanent rain here getting face fulls of mud and crud that has been there for 11 years! It runs really well though, starts instantly every time and never misses a beat and at just under 150k probably just nicely run in. So spares or repair, or possibly even scrappy for it then. I got 3 weeks to dump the crap out of the garden then.
Lilpug is now in the lockup, it will only have a very occasional start and run on none salty days for the next few months now.
Bigpug just does as it should.
107 got its second set of discs and pads after 90k, exhaust still blowing, oil still burning, had a puncture, clutch now adjusted and nice bite right in the centre of the pedals travel and just goes despite the abuse it gets, but its usually just 42 miles to Shauns work and 42 miles home 5 or 6 days a week so although driven hard its not hard stop start all the time.
Others, Shauns girlfriend reversed his skoda into a pole, it is mechanically perfect but really looking challenged now, its never been painted and is full of deep scratches and dents from when he went through a fence, his civic is due testing which needs work first as in the cat refitted, and new rear calipers as both are seized. Kerris Audi just does what it should with no complaints and on little fuel.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
For reference Davie, last time I did this run in your new acquisition I left MK with a full tank and arrived in Westhill where I was staying with friends with 1/3rd a tank left.
For me being used to having to fill up several times en route this was a bit of a shock!
