Davie, a Berlingo makes complete and perfect sense in your situation....

Yes, I agree Jim. I'm biased though.. but, I have owned one alongside a 260BHP Impreza, V6 Xantia, V6 Cougar, Puma, MX5s... and out of all of them, I've still got the Berlingo.CitroJim wrote:Davie, a Berlingo makes complete and perfect sense in your situation....
That says a lot. Brilliant vehicle. Apart from the bloody comms 2000 thing..

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I can understand the idea of getting a Berlingo or similar, I just couldn't face it myself! I know I really should have a diesel, but when I bought my VTS I didn't expect to get a job with a 65mile each way commute straight after! I'm fairly sure that if I traded this one, I'd lose more money than I'd save on better MPG (& diesel's dearer!) also as none of us have ever had anything except petrol cars the chances of putting in the wrong fuel are pretty good! I also find that I can drive the car in 5th in a relaxed way if I feel like it, it will pull from about 30MPH easily, it's just that it's more fun wanging it through the gears! (red rev counter here we come).
Anyway, how is your new house? I hope you are pleased with it.
How are you feeling now physically?
Also are you going to take the VTS to the CCC Rally to make a 3 black VTS mini stand? If you're not going to, I don't think I'll bother (sorry Franklin!) as it will mean a lot of work cleaning etc as I am finding it hard to keep it looking good with the stupid commute. Hope this all makes sense, the local Co op has Hardys Stamp of Australia on special offer ATM & I have been sampling it!

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I've just got rid of my Doblo which had the 120bhp multijet diesel , it was VERY lively and pretty quick without even trying , whereas you've got to give the Zx16v some to get the best out of it , I previously had a 110 bhp dispatch and I much prefer the fiat diesel as it is a bit more eager . The 175bhp Laguna diesel I've now got really is something else , a VERY underrated car imo and what I'd replace this with I really wouldn't know , sadly not a C5 III .

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I am intending coming down the road in the c4 next week, got a road trip planned taking in the national both days. Its gonna get a big clean this week, but I would expect it to have quite a few flies on its nose before I get that far. The move went well and I did not knacker myself doing it, due to my son getting 6 of his mates to do all the work. All it cost me was a case of beer and 6 chinese takeaways. My back holding up well right now, The current heatwave up here helps immensely. I have the mirror and temp sensor fixed, on Monday when I was having fun in the vts outside temp was at 32 at one point in the afternoon. Thats cooking for NE Scotland! If we could get that weather all the time would never need tenerife, get a good beach holiday here.I now have the living room of the house decorated, it is the only room needing doing. I think the kitchen and bathroom aren't very old and really nice, the lobby, stairs and bedrooms are all clean and fresh and the colours suit me. There is no paper, only painted on walls and that suits me fine. Garden, thats a different story. It's very fussy, had a lot of work done with little walls and raised flower beds built all over the place and a bit of decking that has seen better days. Think it's gonna get completely gutted and start again with things that are lower maintenance, eg slabs, concrete or tar for a car playing area, grass and decking for the rest. I also have a block workshop which needs sorting out as well. I'm not going to really annoy all you guys that stay in areas that houses are really expensive by telling you what my 3 bed semi cost me, I struck it really lucky with this, and after paying off the ex, own this outright with no mortgage, it was so cheap. Don't have any money left tho and not a lot coming in. Think I'm gonna sell the c4 and run the van, or maybe buy an old open topper for a wee bit o fun. Ps I have gone mad haha and really have no idea what I will do with cars. It changes daily, if not less!

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Davie, there is someone on C4Owners thinking of buying a VTS 180, I don't know his budget, if he's serious or anything, but if you want to sell yours, maybe re join C4 Owners & see if he could meet at the CCC Rally (as he is in Nuneaton & you are in Scotland).
An idea anyway!

Talking of C4s and the National Rally, there's an XM owner on Club-XM that says if his XM doesn't pass it's MOT in time then he'll be there in his Black VTS HDi Coupe...!

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I'll bet i'm first to clean the car for the national next week. 6 hours non stop today cleaning it. I'll stick the photos up in a bit, I know you fellow black c4 owners can't get enough of them. It's a good test for me, a bit knackered just now, but I need to push the health thing a bit. A long drive friday, and then home in stages on sunday night and whenever after that.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Yep, pictures please...
6 hours already is impressive...!
The past few weeks I've kept on top of the cleaning of the C4, and at the moment it's just got a layer of dust over it. A quick wash over and microfibre off will see it shining again. I Meguiars Wax'd it only around a week ago so it's still got a nice shine...
No doubt I'll give it another wax towards the end of next week, although I'm hoping a couple of hours will see it ship shape again...

As Franklin says we can't have enough of pictures of black C4 Coupes! Mine is filthy inside & out, has a new chip on the windscreen & notched up 120000 miles today! Also needs MOT next week & the Xennon headlight washers are'nt working!

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I gained a chip in the windscreen of my company van on Tuesday, and on Thursday it was repaired by an Optic Kleer guy (they are normally to be found in the car parks of DIY stores) for the princely sum of £30 plus VAT (paid for by my employers). Nice neat job, but you can see where the chip had been (but this is normal). This was the second chip that this guy had repaired, and I would use him again if needed.
Autoglass weren't interested in either chip, as they said their kit probably would cause the chips to crack. Yeah, right! They aren't worth the time or hassle.
