Re: Davie's french attraction.
I've never really spent much time with a traditional clay bar, but I did come across a mitt with a clay surface on the palm (Meguir's or however you spell it I think), and that definitely does work...
Freaked me out the first time I used it - you wash the car first, then wet the surface with a weak soap solution, then gently rub over the surface in question. For the first few moments it honestly feels like you're scraping the surface of the paint - then suddenly it goes glassy smooth.
After that you then give the surface a quick polish over to clean any remnants, then give it a good quality wax. The results really are very noticeably better than where I started out or results I'd got with just polish and wax before.

Re: RE: Re: Davie's french attraction.
It will look sweeter before long. At last i put the set of 14" genuine gti alloys in for powdercoating, got them back yesterday. I have new tyres ordered for them. I really like uniroyal rain expert which i could have got for £33 each, but the tread is too modern, so I have gone for falkens, a more traditional looking tyre, but still good ratings, £35 each and my tyre man will fit then for a tenner eack. I hope he can balance centerless wheels! I have a newly painted satin black front bumper and colour coded genuine gti front valance to fit, and i will paint the rear bumper and valance the same. Thank goodness i got the leon away, the money from it will do nicely to pay for all this, and the remap on bigpug. Once little pug has her wheels and bumpers done that hopefully my motoring needs taken care of for a while. Im slowly getting through the jobs. Just oil changes for both, including gearboxes. I know bigpug will need 3 changes a few hundred miles apart, would littlepugs 4 speed, possibly an al4? need multiple changes too? I know its only done 33k but presumably the oil is 24 years old and could be past its best. It will get used more now the leon is gone, its a lot better for local stuff than bigpug. Shaun will have his skoda back on the road next week, its already been in for MOT, failed on having hid headlight bulbs in normal units, and he replaced his coilovers and one bolt was not tightened properly, and a blow in the exhaust. Once he is running it i can then use babypug for my work. Ill be getting mixed up with all these pugs. Big little and baby [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23]CitroJim wrote:looking very sweet Davie

Re: Davie's french attraction.
you really do notice the difference of the remap, the increase in MPG is a bonus, the turbo lag is a pain in big Citroen's and Peugeot's. I know fro experience the difference between mapped and non-mapped.......
The C6 went from 208bhp to 250bhp and the power delivery is amazing now........... and that's all i'm prepared to say

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Littlpug will have a fully mechanical 4HP14 Davie and yes, same applies but you must be just as careful with the fluid... Use ony proper mineral-based Dexron II and nothing that says it is backwardly compatible - it isn't... Don't use anything above Dexron II and don't be fobbed off. insist on the original Dexron II mineral ATF and absolutely nothing else...
Do three fairly rapid changes - say 100 miles between - and also consider cleaning the filter - Alasdair will tell you how but it involves dropping the gearbox sump...
GTi wheels you say? 1.6 Pepperpots or 1.9GTi Speedlines?

1.6 pepperpots, nicer wheel in my opinion and a better size.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Not yours Davie but that’s gorgeous... A 205 Rallye if I'm not mistaken - or certainly a lookalike.... Lovely and rare now - in unmolested form...

Re: Davie's french attraction.
That rallye is absolutely lovely. The yellow with white wheels is lovely. If I ever want or need to paint mine I wouldn't know to do it the original midnight blue it is or go metallic and go for Mauritius blue which is similar or go lighter Miami blue. If looked after it may be a long time before such a descisions had to be made. Here's new pics today seeing as how it's sunny, the car is polished and first change taken place.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Is that a line of Avenger Tigers Davie? or just well-loved standard Avengers? One of those nearly killed me in 1976!
The 106 Rallye is very special indeed

Re: Davie's french attraction.
It is a line of avenger tigers. There is another yellow one. All 5 owned by the same man. That's a real enthusiast as all have MOT and are street legal. He must be as daft as citroenists! I think there were only ever 250 made so for one man in NE Scotland to own 5 roadworthy examples is something else!

That is amazing Davie
Definitely worthy of being a Citroenist that is for sure..
Mind you, the Tiger is a very special car indeed... He has impeccable taste I must say..

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Well the 107 exhaust hanger I can say is time dependant, Davie...mine just dropped the back box onto the axle this afternoon...
Have a bag of random hangers in the garage somewhere, hopefully will be able to find one that will do the job.
...Edit, it's snapped off the pipe...not the hanger that's broken. Annoying. Looks like I'll need to get the welder out!
