Davie's french attraction.
Re: Davie's french attraction.
Sanex is the one that both agrees with me and works.
I also shave my armpits! It's far more hygienic than having two "sweat sponges" hanging around stinking and I use way less deodorant. It's common for men to do it in hotter countries, indeed, it was my Brazilian father-in-law (A doctor) who expressed surprise I didn't!

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I even come out in a rash with Sanex as it has petrochemical ingredients. It also has the Alum which is a Stimulator for cancer and skin irritation.
I think Sanex is quite a misleading product myself.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I've got one here in front of me. I can't see anything misleading on it. The ingredients are clear enough and it makes no wild claims

Re: Davie's french attraction.
As for misleading wild claims - H&B win that award every time. People have a habit of believing their guff as they purport to be "healthy" when in fact they're not.
Want an example..?
Aqua, Potassium Alum, Propanediol, Triethyl Citrate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Galactoarabinan, Sodium Bicarbonate, Sclerotium Gum, Sodium Anisate.
Ingredients for Sanex perhaps? No. That's the ingredient list for Salt of the Earth deodorant spray.
The one you linked to contains Alum too...

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I had to get on the internet to work that out. I made a mistake, Aluminium Chlorohydrate is the bad one, which both are free from.
Sanex has ingredients: AQUA , GLYCERIN , PPG-15 STEARYL ETHER , STEARETH-2 , STEARETH-21 , POTASSIUM ALUM , CYCLOPENTASILOXANE , PARFUM , TALC , DIMETHICONE , BHT , PHENOXYETHANOL .
Don't know which I react to, could be the silicones, it makes my pits all red and sore.

Tried that once but it didn't work at all well... I found it very difficult to do on account that I have very fine armpit and not a tremendous amount of it... Luckily perhaps I have very little body hair generally...
The shaving rash was unbearable...
I have a strict rule that my body hair is left as nature intended... It is very bad practice anyway to shave or trim certain, erm, areas of hair if you're a runner and more especially if you're a cyclist as it can lead to serious chafing...
Lady cyclists are expressly advised to leave their bikini-lines as nature intended for this reason...
The above does not apply to my head hair. that sees the clippers on no.2 setting twice a week and the beard is trimmed once a day...

Re: Davie's french attraction.
As the Greek nurse who helped put me back together some years ago after a motorcycle accident said... "You are hairy, like a gorilla"... I use a good facial razor and good sensitive skin shaving foam.
Being gorilla-like, I find quite the opposite with regards to cycling..
I wonder how Davie's remap went? I imagine he didn't expect this conversation on his blog..

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I dont use deodorant at all. Shower every day using old fashioned unscented soap, which is getting increasingly more difficult to find. When i did use deodorant when i was still married at the insistence of my ex i hated the stink of them, and most shower gels too.
Right. Remap. Hasnt happened yet. The guys machine connected with the car no problems, which the last places machine didnt. Then a problem arrived in that his internet went down so couldnt download the map from his company. We waited two hours to see if it came back on, but alas it didnt. It shall be tried again next week sometime, and he is giving me 50 quid off the price for the inconvenience. I think this car doesnt want to be remapped!
The scaffolding is still up around my house, im getting very annoyed at this, several phone calls to the company doing the jobhas not helped, they blame the council for not issuing a warrant to do the work yet. When asked why did you put up scaffolding 3 months ago when you didnt have the warrant i just got a stony silence. I was assured when i ordered it that it would be scaffolding up, job done scaffolding down within a week. Im fed up of living on a building site, i cant use the drive, i cant get the garden sorting which includes extendind the drive and a carport to keep the seagulls crap off the car.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
That's bloody frustrating Davie - both of the things you report
At the second I really would be hopping mad by now...
The first is sod's law and next time it'll be good...
Still a bit of a disappointment though...

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Davie, I could really use some scaffolding here...Maybe I should come and borrow it.
Honestly, after two years I've basically given up trying to get that roof sorted...

Gave me a good laugh there, nice one!
Probably be more useful than any of the contractors we've had involved so far now I think about it...

Re: Davie's french attraction.
The 407 is ready for its retest. The guy i used to do the wheelbearing is the same guy who did the welding on the xantia. He asked if i wanted a cheap bearing or a decent one. He has been told any car of mine gets the good job and bits unless i specifically tell him to bodge it. I learned a long time ago whilst being a shareholder of a fishing boat to use quality parts and do the job properly, although maybe costing more, usually worked out considerably cheaper in the long run. Garage man said good call, had i put in a cheap bearing you would be back in 6 weeks for another one. He seems like an honest, straight talking kind of guy. Price of the bearing was £113 (ouch) the abs sensor needed replacing, £37 two hours labour and vat made £276. A cheap bearing might have saved 50 quid just now to spend heaps again in the not too distant future. So thats money i wasnt really expecting to spend. Remap is rebooked. NOT saying when cos that will jinx it!
