I think you got a good one there Davie. I owned a Skoda Roomster with the 1.4 three pot diesel. Cracking car 65mpg all day long. But the heater was dire, I'm sure there was a fault with it.

I always thought the heater in the C1 was rather rubbish but its new owner says the opposite so I don't know for sure... Maybe she drives it so hard it quickly warms up...

Mind you, small highly efficient diesels can takes ages to warm and heat - look at the first HDi Xantias for example; they needed auxiliary heaters

I always remember in the depths of winter finishing the lateshift at midnight and still sitting on the carpark half an hour later waiting for the ice to clear from the INSIDE of the screen!

My xantia still hasn't got a working heater fan so it's pathetic driving it most of the time just now. This Leon is ok, the 107 when I'm in it is cooking hot pretty quickly, but fools down quickly again when shut down.

Open the rear windows a crack when you drive it with the heater on full. It'll create just enough vacuum to draw the warm air through. Did this on my Activa when the fan packed up in summer 2010 - AC on, windows open a crack, pulled cool air through nicely.

I need to fix the bloody far lol. Any jobs are piling up just now, I have splints on both my wrists and thumbs moat of the time and I'm finding it very difficult to do anything. I'm on a waiting list for treatment, meanwhile put up with it. The day is approaching when I will have to give up on older cars and playing with them and go for a boring bland box that just keeps working but gives no fun.

Davie, sorry to hear about the wrists... Hope the treatment comes good and resolves all the issues...

Shame I live so bloody far away or I'd have fixed your fan for you long ago...

It's been out and tested as the sticky thread about it. I'm entirely convinced it's the box of tricks on the motor. I have had the fan working so it ain't the motor. I do have a new part to fit and I hope it fixes it.ImageImageImage
Not easy to do anything at all with one of these on both hands. Even with them off I don't have much grip left. I'm still far too close to major crash point, it's just existing a day at a time, and no part time work again. I feel about 30 years older than I really am just now.

Davie, if that's a regulator sourced from a well-known internet auction site and the transistors have 'MJ11016' written on them, as they look as if they might in the picture, then I' regret to tell you it won't work  Those are the NPN version of the transistor rather than the correct PNP version...

It's a known issue with some sources of these items sadly.

If you want, you can send it down to me for testing and if it does not work I can make it work with a change of transistors - done them before...

At least then, when you are able to swap it you'll know it's a good 'un.

If I cannot make it work I'll supply a refurbished genuine one for you...

They do say MJ11016 0396 on them. The ad said for a 2.0 turbo activa. Bugger. PM your address to me Jim, I should have it somewhere but can't see it. Thanks.
