Re: Davie's french attraction.
My berlingo hasn't sold at auction yet, I may drop the reserve a little. Meanwhile I have an old car of mine back. I bought a micra for a friend about 7 months ago. It stopped starting, she went to Nissan and they told her it needs a new ignition barrel, New key and then reprogrammed. That will be about £500 plus the car please. I knew this is what they would say, micras are known for this, but a simple push button starter kit off eBay for £15 had already been fitted to this one which solves the problem. My friend had bought another car and offered me the micra for 100quid as a non runner. So it came back here. Started with a bump start no problem and drove perfectly. Cue a bit of investigation. Ignition on, wire directly off battery onto starter motor, nothing. One £10 scrappy starter and 1/2hr later, push the button and hey presto working fine! It is in for mot tomorrow, I'm not expecting much if anything to fail it so that's a seriously cheap runner for me untill I find something I want at an affordable price.
I'm just coming out of a big crash health wise, those who are friends on Facebook will have read what caused it. To cut a long story short, I have a disabled blue badge for parking. The shop I now deliver from is on double yellows. No problem, in Scotland a blue badge allows the holder to park for an unlimited time on them, as long as you are not causing an obstruction. The same police officer has twice forced me to move saying the unrestricted parking 200 meters along the road is within a reasonable distance for me to walk time and time again carrying orders. Sometimes that would be no.problem, so.etimes I can only do my job of I am right at the door. The upshot is, the police are going to book me if they see me on the yellows, but the government says I can park there. Who is right? I would think the government makes the rules, the police enforce them. And a snotty nosed young copper has no right to diagnose how disabled a blue badge holder is. I have already been to tell and back to get the a tea help I need. So I now have had to give up my job, which I was doing under a permitted employment back to work scheme, which as well as getting me some much needed money also provided some much needed health benefits. It's taken quite a while for me to calm down about this, I was absolutely raging at what happened. I have now written letters to the local council who issues the blue badge on the government's behalf and to the chief inspector of Grampian police to seek clarification of the disabled parking laws. Everyone I have spoken to recon the coppers are wrong and it amounts to police harassing disabled drivers, when every other driver here park all over the place, on yellows and I The disabled bays with no.penalties. So into war I go again. I am not going to rant on about this any more. Ranting just winds myself up.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Davie, that's a great result with the Micra
You know my views on the other thing. I just hope and pray that justice is done and you win this battle... All my best wishes go out to you for a most satisfactory result

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Davie, do get the Council involved.
I used to work across the desk from the gent who managed the Blue Badge scheme in Aberdeen City (can't speak for Aberdeenshire I'm afraid) for a good few years, and can say that in the City at least, that they would take things like this really properly seriously and really try to get things sorted out.
Make sure your local councillor(s) are copied into any communications as well as that will ensure that things actually get dropped into the formal enquiry system with a far better paper trail.
Sorry I can't give any advice on who directly to contact...The Blue Badge scheme must have been about the only department in Aberdeenshire Council I'd not had dealings with at some point through work.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
That's why I have written a letter rather than an email or phone call Zel. I shall keep copies of all correspondence. I shouldn't think that police Scotland will want this going public, but I am prepared to go to MP and MSP and to papers if necessary. It's far beyond me being threatned with being booked, it's the whole attitude towards disabled people.
Anyway enough of that, micra failed mot. Nothing too much, it needs a wishbone, a cool spring (both the same corner for a change) and two track rod ends. Parts ordered, ramp time at garage booked for Friday. I wonder if I will be as lucky as I was with the xantia and set the tracking spot on by guess? Answers on a postcard please to Davies tracking service, co FCF forum readers, sturgeonland.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
That's not a bad result Davie... A cool spring intrigues me though... Is that a spring wearing sunglasses or a source of coolness for the car?
At least you know what's got to be done and nothing too tricky...
Measure carefully the exiting tracking and you'll get it pretty close. If it appears wrong it was likely always wrong

Re: Davie's french attraction.
The cool spring will have to be yellow with black sunglasses and can only be fitted on a sunny but frosty day [emoji41]

Re: Davie's french attraction.
One nissan micra passed MOT. Two track rod ends, one wishbone, one drop link, one coil spring, front caliper freed off. Checked alignment after all done, guess what? Alignment spot on! Mr McKay's alignment by guess works again lol. That's two out of two!

Nice one Davie. I ran an old Micra for a while and it was a lovely little car.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I thought you could only ever drive a Micra if you wore a floral dress, Dame Edna glasses and had a blue rinse...

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Yes it is.
On the parking issue, hope you're near to a good conclusion. Don't forget you've also got a Police Commissioner and an MP you could approach, if needed.

As well as a load of forum members who could (if accommodation and transport costs can be covered) come up and heckle the bureaucraps for you.
