Re: Davie's french attraction.
Just ordered more stuff for the xantia. Primer paint and lacquer. As well as some green blood. The underside was stonechipped on bits that needed it and there's a full tin of dinatrol in to the insides of each sill. Trying to get it to resist the effects of the sea air here and the salt it will encounter over the winter. I'm not laying it up for winter, it will be used when I feel like using it.

Pulled out a couple of plugs on the bottom of the sills and sprayed it in using a tube on the nozzle of the can. Emptied the entire contents of one can in to each sill, then pushed the grommets back in then had an excuse for a spirited drive along my favourite windy road just to spread it about [emoji4]

Re: Davie's french attraction.
The activa has hardly moved this week. I now have a set of c4 resolfens to try on, but after seeing a pic of one with resolfens on I'm not really sure. I will be puttingnon one of the sets of 17" wheels as the tyres are much better than on the 15's. I am now at the mercy of the weather here, which today, is not behaving for me even going out the door. So still got brakes to do! The berlingo is having a bit of a sulk for some reason, it's chucking on the low coolant warning light occasionally for no apparent reason. It's away to get put to work as a hot food delivery vehicle again, for a different place in town and at a more reasonable pay rate, only two evenings a week but that will do, it's only for pocket money anyway.
Shaun had his civic mended with a replacement gearbox so is using it all the time so the 107 is getting a rest. The insurance is in for it, that's a year it has been in my name, but I am not paying the insurance for it afterbi paid it last year then he kept taking the car back. So it's down to him now. I have the berlingo for daily and the activa if I want fun so that will do me.

At least you know it works Davie, which is more than can be said for S1 Xantia V6 and 2.1TD ownersdaviemck2006 wrote:The berlingo is having a bit of a sulk for some reason, it's chucking on the low coolant warning light occasionally for no apparent reason.

Hope it soon recovers and all the best in your new job too

And hoping the weather soon lets you out too so that you can get those brakes sorted... Bit of advice for when you do, which I found helped today, is to apply some heat to the threaded ends of the caliper bolts and the surrounding metalwork. If they have Loctite on the threads (mine did) that'll help release it...
I also found heat helped when swapping the front brake flexi hoses too...

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I've now fixed the annoying low coolant light and beep on the berlingo. Totally confidant it is not losing water I pulled the plug off the sensor! That will do until I remember to buy a new sensor [emoji12] [emoji4]
Just a photo of said blingo just because it's the first one I've taken of it!
Activa got a change of wheels today. And I have not done the back brakes yet, the discs are polished enough, there's no appreciable wear on them and about 5mm on the pads yet. Put a spanner on the caliper bolts and they all slackers off ok so just tightened them and left them. I saw a pic of a mk2 xantia in silver with these wheels on and did not think much of them, but it looks better in the flesh. Better than the 17" wolfrace which were on. I'm selling 3 activa alloys as they are not a set, keeping 5 so I can put the car to original any time I want.

I thought I was going to need spacers, but I'm low there's only about 5mm clearance between tyre and arch, that's with 205/50x17 on. Two tyres are ok to use though budget jobs, two are near done. I don't think I'll put on the 215/45x17 uniroyal off the other wheels as they may scrape the arch. Not on normal but I'm low which it only goes on to when parked. The ride is slightly harder than 15's but steering responce slightly more. It's all about better choice of tyres for me.

That is a steep hill the Berlingo is parked on! Reminds me of a certain bus, somewhere else in the forum.

Davie, lovely pictures and those wheels look really quite well on the Activa. C5 or C6 ones?
You do have some pretty places up in your neck of the woods and the car is looking excellent too

I'm so delighted to hear the rear calliper bolts will not be a PITA when you do come to do the discs and pads. That's an excellent result!
I'd get a small disc pad through-bolt, spring and pad cover set from ECP though (as James recommended to me) as these are best replaced when doing the pads.. It's made by Pagid and excellent value for just a tad over 8 portraits of the Queen...
