If he has to get the code for a genuine reason then it will get changed at the earliest opportunity. I'm the other hand I'm going to try to activate my daughter tomorrow. I have the hospital and she is getting a go of the activa. She is sensible though

My daughter liked the comfort and power of the activa, but did not take to its brakes. She said they felt "funny" but did not elaborate! It has not been shifted since Wednesday lunchtime when it got parked. I had a little mishap when I got home, taking in the wheelie bin I tripped, fell on my arse and the bin landed on top of me. Not good at the best of times but when I have had chronic pain for a few years and a weak back it's worse. It's highly unlikely that the activa will move for a week or more, I am too stiff and sore to get in and out of it, I managed into the micra that I temporarily have just to get to the shop and back. I've been checked out since falling and don't think I have done further damage to my back, but I cant figure out what is my usual pain and what is extra. I can only get some modicum of comfort lying on my back, so it's bed or sofa rest for me until further notice.

Sorry to hear of your mishap Davie :( All wishes that normality is restored as soon as possible ;)

A lot of people find Citroen brakes a bit 'odd' at first, nothing unusual there at all.

I'm feeling more like myself now. Gotta love middle aged vauxhall astra. Kerri's astra went up for MOT without even being looked at. It failed on one numberplate bulb fused and offside rear brake pads and disc worn although it gave good readings on the rollers. So one new set of discs and pads later and one bulb and it passed with no advisories. That's ok for an 8 year old with 135000 on the clock. Discs and pads being at the end of their life is hardly the end of the world in car terms. It still ranks as the most reliable, cheapest to run car known to this family (apart from a 107 that I have not touched for 3 weeks now) Has shaun done anything about getting one of his cars on the road yet? NO!

Delighted to hear you're feeling better now Davie :D

Those models of Astra were actually quite excellent. I know I joke about them but they have lasted well and there's still loads of them about..

Shaun's cars are his problem, not yours ;)

His civic on my drive propped up on my axle stands with its suspension in bits for a few weeks now, I had to improvise on the street for axle stands to do Kerri's astra, I have my own back brakes to do. I think his civic will end up on the ground, I'm really not caring about it.

Other car news, I'm putting the activa round the corner to a garage I have previously fell out with about the length of time they took to mot my old c5 to get its wheelbearing done. I told him about the hub and driveshaft being stuck together and he said we've never failed to get one out yet! There's always a first time!

The activa has just been dropped off at the garage round the corner that has pissed me off in the past, not by the standard of their work but the length of time to do work. We will see how they get on getting the driveshaft out to replace the wheelbearing! Yes, it's the one that sir CitroJim couldn't budge. I've decided to use them for the activa jobs as their MOT tester and chief mechanic was foreman of a citroen dealers workshop in the 90's And it's less than 500 meters from the house.

They managed to get the driveshaft and hub separated and replace the wheelbearing. He did say it was an almighty struggle! I haven't got it back yet, it was only ready at 3.45 today and I had to start work at 4, so I shall get it tomorrow morning. Next challenge is welding and bodywork, or rear discs and pads. This will end up a well sorted car. It's getting all the attention it needs. I suppose it will keep on throwing the toys out the pram, and will cost far too much per mile covered, but that's an old car for you, and its the toy, not the daily so that's ok.

Good news about the wheel bearing, Davie.
I wish I'd learned to weld so I could get bits on cars like your door shut and know it had been done properly!

It's a pity my son in law hasn't time to do it as I could have been there seeing what's going on. I've to go to a local guy in a week or so to get it up in the air for a good look, then take it from there.

It's nice having a quiet activa again. Went out my favourite road for a spin and showed an Audi a4 2.0 turbo Quattro how to go round the corners. He was taking all the road and bouncing all over the place and I was having a drama free potter about [emoji4]

I went to the shops in the 107 this morning. It's got a noisy front left wheelbearing. I'm not fixing it or arranging to get it fixed!
