Do you have a big roof sign on the car now when it's a Pizza delivery vehicle Davie? I notice one mob around here with a name reminiscent of a pub game have light-up roofboxes now in the shape of two the aforesaid game's playing pieces on their delivery cars..
Just like their Pizzas, rather naff...

Re: Davie's french attraction.
No signs on the car, most customers are regulars and know the car. Because it's a sportium it has white mirrors on the black car and stands out a little. That's 5 months I've been doing this now, it is getting busier with two of us kept going Fri, Sat and Sun. I do one day during the week and the other does the other 3 days in the old meggy, which is also standing up to the abuse, the only proles he has had is an exhaust hanger breaking. I'm really happy I am managing to keep on doing it, I do suffer physically for it occasionally, and can't really do much else. I've only had to take one evening off because of my health, although there has been other days I should have gone home. So I'm happy.
My daughter just came in and has seen the activa for the first time. She can't believe that it is over 17 years old! Her astra is losing coolant, the next dry day I will have to look at it and see if I can find the leak. At a quick look I suspect it's from the radiator bottom hose. I will need to remove plastic bits underneath to see properly. Hoping for a quick tighten of the jubilee clip will fix it, if it's the radiator it looks like a pig to do.

Davie, that really is fantastic new on how you're coping with the job. Absolutely delighted
I guess then that the mob you work for are not one of the big, multi-national chains of Pizza purveyors...
Funny how our children's cars keep us busy isn't it!!!

It's a chain of 1 Jim lol. I have twice worked for large national organisations, Stagecoach and BAA and both were horrible to work for and inflexible regarding swapping shifts to accommodate things like weddings, hospital appointments etc, where any small outfits I have worked for have been great for that.

I'll wager their Pizzas are way better than any of the multi-nationals too!

My boss will dip anything in batter and deep fry it! As long as it's edible in the first place [GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I had a car day, or part day, on the activa.

Spot the difference from the last photos you have seen of this car. I can't help myself when it comes to changing my car lol. The wheels are not the finished article yet, I need my spacers on, they are expensive hubcentric ones, but due to the xantia hubs I need longer studs compared to the ones I had on the c4/5. I had 7 full turns of the studs on both of them, I only have 4 turns of this which is not enough for my liking on something so important as wheels! Also the tyres are too small, they are destined for Shaun's Skoda, well 2 definitely are. I have 2 higher profile than 40 ordered. While the wheels were off, I had a little look at the brakes that I am not too happy with. I say that the dodgy brakes are due to the car being very sparsely used. My dads car used to suffer the same with low mileage. I knew it wasn't far from rear discs and pads, as Chris kindly have me them, and I knew it broke a handbrake cable the day before I got it. The front pads are very thin, and discs not too bad, but they will be done too. The calipers are very stiff, they don't seem to be releasing properly but I will reserve judgement until I strip them down. The handbrake levers are free though. So basically it will get a complete brake overhaul.

A bit of rust treatment required. I will have to diy this just now, can't afford to get it professionally just now. I can stop the rust, or maybe slow it, but rust is usually worse than it looks so scared to go poking too much until I'm ready to do it. I just hope it does not need surgery, just a sticky plaster. There is nothing else that needs looking at just now, not needing a service I til May.
So what do I think of it now I've been using it for a while. I'll do the negatives first. It's a thirsty beast. I hate the keypad. It's a poor turning circle (but look at what I am used to lol). The warning lights for lights and main beam are hidden by my hand on the steerind wheel. Brakes crap, read above. So given that I was expecting it to be a petrolaholic, and it's not for dotting about the town, and the warning lights is a minor one and the brakes can and will be fixed, that only leaves the keypad[emoji35] [emoji49] [emoji107]
Good points. Handling as amazing. Even better with 17" wheels and 40profile tyres. Ride is also amazing despite the 17" wheels and 40profile tyres. Seats really comfy. Driving position good. Quiet and refined. Headlights better than I expected[emoji13] Power! Overtook 2 attics and a van on a bit of road that the 107 would have to struggled with the van itself.
Am I happy? YUP!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Please take those wheels off Davie , imo they certainly don't suit the activa . The original wheels suit the car better .
