Plus some factors will take the old one back to be sent off for re-conditioning, and you get back a few quid doing this.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I may have pulled off the best car sale of my life with the megane. My boss at the chippy is buying it as a pool car to do the deliveries in. So sell him the car, he pays the petrol, insurance and tax and I still use it for work, and get paid the same. I've really got it sussed now [emoji4] [emoji23]
I'll even fix the driveshaft for that!

Re: Davie's french attraction.
The next car I will be selling is the 205 "shock horror"! I'm going to keep the 107, which shaun has stopped using and I am insuring on the 11th when my insurance is due anyway, so I don't really want two small cars. The 205 will be replaced, by something bigger, automatic preferably. What it may be I have no idea yet! I will know when I find it!

Xantia V6 Davie
It meets your requirement of being bigger and automatic!
Good call on keeping the 107... Shame the 205 has to go but the 107 is a worthy one to stay.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I like the 205, but it is heavy to steer and I now have a knackered hand to contend with too.
Here's the 107 as he gave me it today

A big clean required. It's so filthy I bet it comes up good. Nothing will have got through the filthy to mark the paint [emoji23]

They do get mucky at the back though Davie... One of those cars where a rear wiper is essential I find...
Yes, compared to more modern small cars a non-PAS 205 is a bit heavy... Mind you, a 107 is incredibly light! Even a Xantia seems heavy against a 107...

Re: Davie's french attraction.
He had an argument with a high kerb last winter, that's why the fog light blanking plate is missing and the inner wheelarch is also missing, and the bottom of the bumper is cracked and scraped. I'll het the liner and the foglight bit but probably leave the bottom of the bumper.

Re: RE: Re: Davie's french attraction.
A V6 xantia could tempt me, but I could be tempted by a Volvo estate, big old comfy armchairs and the ability to move stuff! I am also scaring myself, old bmw, 5 or 7 series! Knowing me thought I'll end up with none of the above and have a transit van [emoji12] [emoji13] [emoji23]CitroJim wrote:Xantia V6 DavieIt meets your requirement of being bigger and automatic!

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Same seats as mine save for the colour of the patterning, orange on mine.
I found that the rear wiper on mine was a necessity - until the rear spoiler was fitted. That totally eliminated the vortex at the back that sucked all the gunk onto the rear window.
Mine has the fog light blanking plate missing on the opposite side from an argument with a flying lorry wheel trim on the A34. Looks like the car may be relieved of commuting duty soon, so I'm waiting until then as sorting it now would just be tempting something else to happen!
Worth attacking the area behind the bumper with Dinitrol while it's off as there's little to no rustproofing under there.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
The missing alloy in the boots has a dead tyre on it so I have ordered 2 vredestien quatric all season tyres for it at £36 each delivered. I don't really like the roof spoilers on small hatchbacks. They do look too much like the shopping trolleys they are! I don't think I will be doing anything to the car, another 3000 miles before it's due a service, amazingly at 53000 it's still on it's original discs and pads, and sparkle plugs! Shaun took a plugs out at 46k and it's gap was still fine and it was a nice colour so left them in. I'll probably change the lot shortly.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
The megane and I have parted company. Both of them[emoji1] The scrapper went away on Wednesday for the princely sum of £20! I kept the wheels, as I have a use for them. The decent one I just delivered to its new owners home earlier today, I have not been paid for it yet as he is on holiday and not home until Tuesday, but I needed it moved before the insurance ran out at noon today. So I still have the keys and v5, that will get sorted out on Tuesday or Wednesday. I owned it for 4 months, if shaun hadn't bought another car I would have kept it. It was a very likeable car. I shall miss the keyless entry and start, the glass roof, and if I'm honest the comfort and quietness of it. I did just over 4000 miles in it with no problems, cost £140 to MOT it, £29 for a new driveshaft (not fitted yet!) And it's going for £150 more than I paid for it. So that's 4 months for 19 quid, road tax, insurance and petrol which I have to pay anyway, so 19quid for 4 months motoring. Doesn't get much cheaper than that[emoji4]
