Coca-Cola is supposed to work a treat Davie, my mechanic mate had the same problem as you. It's got to be worth a try for a quid or so.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
OK....It can be done. With a panel wipe poultice.
You will need to go to a paint suppliers and get 10 ltrs of panel wipe/de-greaser, 4 rolls of blue workshop "BogRoll", Plastic sheet larger than the spill, 2gun tubes of clear silicon, a big bucket. Some stones to keep the plastic down, News papers.
Scrubbing brush and detergent.
Area must be dry as is possible, do not do it after rain or washing...
Rip up the paper...3 of the 4 rolls into strips and cover the area with about 15 layers of paper strips, do not twist or roll it, keep it as flat strips, do not stand on it or compress it.
Stick the edges down with the silicon (making a dam) folding over and following the edge at roughly 2 inches out, complete the dam all around with a thin bead.
Get the plastic sheet, rocks and news papers ready and a helper to lay the sheet.
SOAK the blue paper with panel wipe, about 2 ltrs will be about correct on that size to start with...COVER with/lay the plastic sheet as you go and ensure it touches the silicon dam to seal the edge as much as poss.
Lay i layer of closed news paper on top of the plastic.....leave it, Lift and re-soak every 10 mins with about 1 ltr of wipe, heavy sprinkle (not a sprayer) to re-wet, do this 3 times then leave it for 1 hour.
Remove the plastic and news papers and let poultice dry for about 10 mins and then scrub with hot water detergent mix at about 1:3 mix, leave and spray with detergent mix to keep area wet for 30 mins....jet wash the rats out of it...
Clean the rest of the drive

Re: Davie's french attraction.
One problem with leaving it Steve is the house is for sale and it's in full view of prospective buyers and some of them would think it needs a new drive lots of money reduced value of house. And if I parked the car right over it then it's obviously in a totally stupid place. I will try coke, out of a tin. I think it's more toxic than a bottle, and people drink that stuff[emoji1] [emoji1]

any suger solution will do, it feeds the bacteria....but will also take the oil deeper...it needs to be pulled out/up like white wine and tissue on a red wine stain

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Gunk.... it does what it says on the tin (or used to!). It was certainly effective when I spread oil across my parents' drive, and up the side of their caravan... those of you familiar with the two pot 2CV engine (actually this one was in a Visa) will know that there is oil cooler behind the fan, and that the alternator is cooled by air flow blown off the fan and ducted into the alternator by a small tin cover over the pulley. Imagine the situation where said car has had a front knock, and the fan has mashed the oil cooler a bit. You then start the engine with a replacement fan in place, but without the alternator or the duct in place - and find there is a hole in the oil cooler. You can only imagine the mess as the oil is blown straight into the fan, and then ejected out of the alternator cooling duct Things you do when you are 17.....

Gunk, Swarfega, and fairy liquid, or a mix of all three.
I once changed the oil on my mum's car. I used a gallon oil can with the side cut off to drain the oil into. Then without thinking, leant under the car, grabbed the oil can handle and simply pulled it out from under the car and vertical, leaving a gallon of filthy oil over the driveway. Gunk, swarfega and fairy liquid had it mostly like right.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Well I had a good day on Saturday at the northern. A long day, leaving Carluke at 6 am and back there about 8 pm after stopping for a while on the way back up. I did too much though, only now nearly 48 hrs later feeling human again. That's if I was ever human to start with [emoji23]

You are human; all you need to do is to work out the prefix (sub or super)!daviemck2006 wrote:Well I had a good day on Saturday at the northern. Re: Davie's french attraction.
My son in law is recovered from his accident and broken bones and Shaun has a week off work this week. This means that the 205 is getting fixed up this week, the MOT shall be booked for Friday. Once it has a MOT then I shall do the two rust areas and wax oil the underside. I'm deliberately not doing the body and wax oil until my trusted MOT man sees it, just in case It does need any more attention.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Sensible decision Davie.
I remember going over the height correctors on the Activa with spray grease just before my MOT. I do it every year but the last time I did it, it took some convincing for the MOT tester to let it pass... He thought it was a leak.
I always get it through the MOT now then spray it all with grease.
David.
