correction ... I managed to see that the plastic covers just pop out ... that then allowed me to lift the carpet a bit and take off the black cover.
So now the only thing I need is to do 300 miles lol

Did you ever find the solution to your problem?
My guage has started ppleying up when below the half full mark . sometimes showing empty, on cold mornings, till she's been driven a couple of miles and then erratic in the red readings with the light on when there should be almost 1/4 tank. I've just had 75 miles since the red light came on and put 45 litres in and the guage is showing full? Going to investigate the sender tomorrow. 299 650 miles.. 3 or 4 days to go....
