Replacement engine arrived and just waiting for insurance to look at car. Going to replace engine regardless of what insurrance say.

Engine has a label on it from new and is dated 2005 and looks the same as my old one only time will tell if it will work.

Just realised I did not post on what happened should someone come across this post.

Engine got fitted and all was good.

Interesting to know - I wonder how replacing it with a 2.0. would go?

Did you use your old ECU, or that for the new engine?

Only changed the engine no ecu and used my original injectors.

The engine and head should be the same.
If it were me I would get both out side by side and take lots of pictures and swap the bits over. The intake setup may be different as not sure if the pug uses the charge cooler in it's setup as the c5 has a tiny intercooler :)

The box may need swapping if it comes with a gearbox, and while it's out take the time to swap the clutch and flywheel to the solid setup. Put the engine and box back in as one unit as it's a hell of a lot easier.

You could swap the injectors and the pump and all over if you wanted to but watch the injectors as they are pita!

For the cost I would just get a lexia kit off eBay for £80 and a cheap laptop and install windows xp on it to do the job.

What's wrong with the current engine?!
