Warning - Key Battery problem

Remember the OP ,Jeff was having the key problem with an 11 year old car. I don't think BMW had the key charge thing going then, and surely Citroen has moved on? They are usually quite near the front with innovations.

It was fitted to E39's and they started in 1995, it was certainly fitted to my 2001 530i.

Ford keys charge from the car too, I spent ages trying to open the fob on my work Transit before somebody told me that

C5s don't need power in the key to start. The remote key on my 2001 C5 was, and had been for some time, well and truly flat when I got the car and the 2002 estate has a non-remote key as a spare. The OP's experience must have been a coincidence.

It is. The new C5 (III) All keyfobs contain an imobiliser device. When you switch on the ignition, a dialogue starts with the immobiliser .
When the key is removed the immobiliser is automatically set.
