Paul, any more luck?
looks like I have similar issues.. car has been getting worse at cold starting for last few weeks, now it wont start at all, 5C outside.. hoping to get lexia on it for the (my) first time ever.. may need a little help with that information.,
just to clarify, you can change the fuel pump on an Hdi without upsetting cambelt tension?
John

Yes you can BUT be carefull to make sure the pump pully sits nicely and safely.
Theres no bolt holes to secure the pully, it needs to rest.. then when you re fit the pump it will tighten up again.
HDi pumps ARE NOT TIMED on these 2.o 8v engines..
As for my car. She still doesnt start instantly, and still cuts out under hard load, however, she does start a little better.
Out of interest JOhn, have you checked your heater plugs??

I shall fully update when confidant tonight after we go out again later. But it appears to be ok now.
I swapped the injectors over from the hdi 90 and also the fuel filter element. 40 mile drive home no issues.
Idle still has a varying pressure reading though. Piccs and further details added later if she behaves rest of the day..

Yup, been out again tonight, NO problems... The starting is heater plugs, when cold takes a bit longer then normal, but NOT 10 turns!!
She starts fine when Hot, one turn to two... so, as per the headache thread, HERE thanks goto RichardW for his injector explaination..
Soooo... anyone want to buy a GOOD HDi Xantia??
