Ive not really Taffy.

I paid 600 quid two years ago with 156k on it.. Ive taken it to 225k when the first cutting out issue happened, and now again at 260k. This and one injector and clutch is ALL thats really given me issues!

The hdi pumps have no real timing iirc, just need the pump wheel for the pressure, the injectors do the release :)

It's possible it could be a sensor on the pump, but without the right equipment to test the pressure it's building up for the rail you can never be sure what it is without just swapping bits :(

Fingers crossed it's an easy one for you Paul!

To cheer you up I have now got 3 fully reconditioned near as good as new batteries for you :D
They should be able to crank a V6 over nicely as 2 are 60ah and the other 62ah so should do nicely.

The larger ones were toast though and one just holds 2.3 volts so would do good for a small bulb lol

theres no sensor. Theres a pressure regulator on the end of the pump... and a third piston on the top...

Its not timed, its Real Name is actually really the Fuel Injector Rail Pressureiser.... and all it does is pressurise the fuel rail to the correct operating pressure. Hence the pressure regulator.

Ill find out tomorrow when I stick Lexi back on it....

Just a thought Paul but could it not also be a leaky injector stopping pressure rising (or sapping too much when under load?) I only think this as you've already changed the pump and at this mileage an injector must be a possible cause?

I'm watching this carefully as my HDi is currently on 235k on the original fuel system............

I put lexia on.. here are some of my findings from it...

Video..

Another vid...
http://static.photobucket.com/player.sw ... 094740.mp4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Note the excellent injector correction flow as in virtually non for 260k ...

Some of the recorded faults..

Ok.. so i set up on swapping hp pumps as the car was getting impossible to start..

Removed to engine pump which is perfectly possible to leave the pully inplace on the belt..

And swapped it across...i also swapped the fuel rail sensor for piece of mind..

The result? Still a varying measured pressure value and still cut out under heavy load..

So gonna try one last thing and swap the fuel tank pump...

Paul, I may be really off the money here but the Lexia faults might just indicate an electrical problem on something common to all those items such as a duff/high resistance earth or a duff/intermittent/low supply. That might well account for the odd behaviour. The front loom or fusebox may be implicated.

Did all the faults successfully clear and stay away?

If you need HDi wiring diagrams and layouts let me know...

As I say, I may be wrong but it might bear a check and investigation.

Ooo yes jim they did clear and stay away. The only one to return is the lack of high pressure measurement or what ever it says.

Moment of truth for starting. Just stepping out the door to goto farm...

Well, swapped the Tank Fuel pump, and the double relay... and.. other then not stalling, and still taking a few more turns then normal starting, still THE SAME.

Cutting out......

Doh!!!!

What live pressure readings are you getting Paul?

Have you checked any and all electrical points that could have been disturbed when doing the clutch?

Have you thought about swapping injectors from the hdi90?

Sorry it's dragging on :(

Its NOT injectors, look at the video above! Theres virtually NO flow correction, as in leak off....

The live parameter video shows it all aobve!
