yes but bear in mind that if someone breaks into the boot by getting the door open it won't trigger the alarm.
I wonder if anyone has ever managed to get a locked estate hatch open without a lot of big heavy tools?

If the volumetric sensors are working then opening the boot would still trigger the alarm due to detected cabin movement unless they opened the boot REALLY REALLY slowly :) Even then, climbing into the car would still set it off.

Even just lifting your arm slowly in the air sitting in the back seat is enough to set mine off if the alarm is armed...

the volumetric sensors would trigger on the most popular entry method by a thief through a window, this is why I asked if anyone had actually managed to open a locked estate hatch.

I don't want the volumetric sensors to work either because my wife will forget to press the deactivation button and leave the dog in the car!

I've been reading the numerous posts and in one of them Mandrake says that to disable the volumatric sensors for good, all you need to do is remove the nearside inner door panel and disconnect the yellow multiplug.

I've got the door panel off and I can see 2 yellow plugs and 1 red plug.

Which yellow plug do I disconnect? The double plug which seems to lead up to the electric door mirror or the triple plug that disappears down into the door cavity?

I'm guessing it's the triple one but I just wanna check. (What is the red plug for by the way?)

Cheers,

Replied by PM as well but this might be useful for others - its the left hand two pin yellow connector in the picture:

This is the left hand front door and is only applicable to the Series 2 Xantia.

How did the cat feel about that Mike? :-D

Fixed it!

Checked volumetric system was working by locking car with window open, then waved my arm inside car after a minute or two and alarm went off.

Disconnected two pin plug with label on it, locked car again, waited a few minutes and waved my arm through the open window and ............ silence!

Opened door with key rather than remote control and alarm sounded .......... perfect!!!!!

Thanks for all your help guys!

Just don't tell your insurance company you deliberately nobbled your alarm ;)
