Using SVO straight of the shelf at Costco I only purposely add derv in small amounts when there is ice on the road.

Just to chip in. As above, I have seen quite a few XUD TD Xantias and every one has had a Bosch pump.
Again as above, if it looks like a flying saucer at the front of the engine at the driver's side, you're good to go on veg oil.
I'm up to about 8000 miles on veg now and ran a 405 XUD for about 25000 miles before the rest of the car crumbled away around the engine....
