Looks just like mine, only a LOT cleaner....!

It shouldn't smoke significantly - bung some injector cleaner in it and give it a good thrashing should sort it out - will always smoke a bit more than a C5 2.2 as that has a particle fitler. EGR can be disabled by unplugging the pipe to the vac solenoid on the bulkhead (can't remember which one - the front one I think) - mine is still connected, no probs at 140k.... [-o<

Boot membrane is a PITA - have had to do mine several times (well, that's probably 'cos I only did it with silicone on the surface, rather than stripping it right off). Currently got the boot liner off as rear wiper is under repair :P If you take it off, disconnect the wire that links the boot door lamp units BEFORE you get all the screws out - otherwise you end up balancing it on your head whilst you try and unplug the wires

T'master never been a problem on mine - unless as Myglaren says you stall and re-start the engine.

I lifted the two corners next to the rear light of the boot carpet and it is really dry with no marks etc...
I lifted the rear seats and it is bone dry as well.
So I assume the boot capret membrane etc... seems to be in a good order.

I have put some Redex Diesel fuel Additive in the fuel tank ... so that will do for now
and a couple of long motorway runs should do it as well :)

I checked the battery lead and seems to be nicely greased and clean... all wires seem to be OK.
So must be OK for now :) :)

It's a great feeling :-D I used to love doing that in my old NA Pug 405D

have fun on the long trip. 300 miles for an HDi is just a quick trip to the end of the road really.

lurchy666 wrote:glad u dont live anywhere near me, lol i might come and borrow those seats as mine have huge holes in them thanks to the previous owner
i doubt its to do with the previous owner as im on the second passengers front seat in that trim pattern,
it seems like there is a fault in the springing/metal work on these seats as the hole works its way up through from underneath,

So, you reckon the hole was installed at the time of manufacture then Malcolm? Perhaps that's why the trim style was called 'Polo' :)

mine has the hole you describe on the passengr seat and what looks like a load of padding missing ( i dont know as i only sit in drivers seat or the back very occasionally,

the drivers the whole bolster is ripped open and showing the white stuff below, ( at the minute duct tape is holding it all together) that one was definattly previous owners as they used it to take there dogs for walks... by the state of the front seats thats where doggy sat, the back seats are loverly as is the boot,

You know his Missus may've been 20odd stone mind and
shuffled badly getting in/out of the car! The poor dog
may have been as good as gold in the boot!

I think the driver seat might have been replaced at some point of its life??? As the Side Airbag lettering is not on the seat. However I can see the airbag plugs underneith the seat that go into it.
The passenger seems to be original as it has all the lettering and worn more lol ... not major difference though.

I assume if I call the Citroen Dealer thas has been doing all the servicing will tell me? :-S ... last time service was done at 2010 according to the windscreen sticker.

Well I completed my trip of 350miles and I loveeeee the car!!! :D :D :D The 2.0HDi is a different beast of its own on a light car like the Xantia lol
The C5 has a different heavy get out of my way driving style lol.
