Hi, do these bushes come complete in the clutch kit?

GSF have just priced up a LUK clutch kit for me...

Nope, a clutch kit is litterally the friction plate and the pressure plate... and possibly a plastic centralising tool

The bush's you may need to get from Citroen.. Ive never changed any after a clutch job or clip and cable job as yet. But its well worth it I beleve in the long run...

HERE These are them although it says XM, the gearbox is BE3 which is that you have... Once the box is off you/your mechanic will see where they go.

Also my mate at the spares company says there's 2 clutch choices coming up, and I might need the cars spares number. Where would I find this. Might right GSF tomorrow....
is that for cable or clutch? if clutch, one may be a 'pull' type, other a push type.. thing yours will be a pull type

there may be a number inside drivers door, the RPO number, he made need that

for clutch clip, could be worth removing drivers seat for the access it gives, especially if it's wet, which it seems to be :)

cable is a bit of a pain on the roadside.. from what I remember.. not terrible but..

With an 18 year old car it's a Mk1, so the RP number will be stamped on the bulkhead behind the driver's side front strut top, along with the paint code.
The VIN number will be along the edge of the driver's side wing.

Thank you again for the help, going to grab the cable first, there's a clip on the way and go from there. Yes it's wet mot of the time! Not inspired to do the cable but will see what HBOL suggests to do! Will report back! :lol: cheers

Personally I'd rather change the clutch than do the cable on a xantia! The clip is a horrible fiddly job but it doesn't require great technical knowledge just long fingers and even longer patience! Taking the dash out would be making a real meal of it I think. If by some slim chance it's never been done before and th pedal pivot bolt is still facing left to right it is more difficult but you can get the bolt out. Lift the brake pedal up and pull out the plunger under the pedal. once you have undone the clutch pedal bolt, if you hold the brake pedal down with a long bar you can just about work the head of the bolt over it. As suggested you might find it easier cutting the head off, but that in itself can be tricky. I'd be tempted to just change the clip, then get the clutch done. If it's still heavy change the cable. I suspect no one will agree with me but the cable is so difficult to route properly if you're not very familiar with them. The clutch itself is pretty straightforward on a non turbo, just like a p405 with a bit of plumbing added.

I'm starting to really not want to do the cable now! Just didn't want to fit the clip and break it again plus with a new cable it'll need the clip attaching. Will have to have a look at weekend or study the book of lies! Haha

Thanks for the tips by the way :)

Update: not a lot happened, Christmas whirlwind and back out the otherside, regretfully the poor old battle axe has been stood. Started it yesterday. Battery is a good one but was short of juice!
Got speaking to mechanic neighbour who may do this for me so thats good. He reckons should fit clip and cable cheaply. I thinking if he can do clutch cheap i'm doing that too.

:?: I noticed that the clutch pedal bolt threads in from drivers door side and the nut attaches from the passenger side. This means it's been replaced before and not a total pig to do right? :idea:

Also here is the clip I sourced on eBay, looks like good quality, agreed?
Image

I got it side by side with the old bit and the old one does look weak compared.

Thanks again, hope to have it up and fixed and saved from the scrappers soon, MOT season is coming! I must be mad.

Umm Im not so sure about those cheaper clips.. i bought one and it was a waste of time.. i found the metal clip did NOT slip into the cut out slots on the clip enough and it would not grip the end of the cable enough.. no end of issues... for the sake of about a tenner for a genuine citroen clip was well worth it in the end.. ended up dooing it three times till the genuine clip was in...

if the bolt head is towards the door it needs cutting off and a new bolt in from the other way...

If you decide to fit a cable and clip yourself (as I had to do recently) it should be possible to do so in a couple of hours. However, if the cable is an auto adjuster, please learn from my mistake and wrap a lot of tape around the bellows and securing sleeve to prevent it popping off and releasing the auto adjuster (several yards should do it. Better to be swearing at the tape than at an auto adjuster that has released prematurely!). If you look on page 4 of my post, date 19 December, 12:27am, you will see what I mean;

I also only paid £5.53 (inc VAT) for the plastic and metal clips from my local Citroen dealer in Reading.

Thanks for helpful replies, not bestest news, perhaps it's never been done before on this car! makes sense as the bolt won't pull out will it... :idea:
The clip, damn I thought it looked a sturdy one, will see what mechanic says or look for a localish dealer.
Thanks Hell Razor, sounds like a good tip.

Know what i'd do? Do the job properly, gather together all the parts, give yourself a weeks worth of time and follow the book.
None of bend this, lever the that, bon't bother with that, cut, bash ect.
Take your time bolt by bolt clip by clip and it'll be done properly as it came from the factory and feel pride in a job well done!

Not sure of your exact location, but based on manchest0r I may have found a couple of Citroen dealers in your area.

http://www.manchester.citroen.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.manchestersouth.citroen.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The fact that the broken clip in your picture is black would suggest that it has never been replaced. The cream clip is a newer design, and much better quality.
