Re: Should an 03 C5 2ltr hdi be sluggish going uphill

Post by jgra1 »

well I have noticed with mine the problem only exists when engine is cold.. which is most journeys I do.. once warm, car is ok.. light remains on sometimes after restarting, sometimes it's off but comes back on soon after..
anyway.. will have a good look around it at weekend.. after doing a handbrake cable and guide.. will also try to read codes as best as I can..

but the cold thing.. points at EGR for starters really..

Its perfectly fine to clean a MAF sensor with just spray solvent. Ive done this many times with all our 2.0HDi 110s and never had a resulting problem, quite the opposite which is why it is of benefit. However you must never touch the elements with anything physically, but a solvent spray is fine.

Our current 110 C5 had a similar leak to yours. Once I replaced the intercooler for a new one the car has never been any further trouble. Doesnt use any oil and doesnt smoke either. That was about 20k miles ago.

Saw this on another forum....he had a P0230 code..

If this is the problem, where do I find this..

Replaced the solenoid on the top of the pump (the one thats held in by 3 small Torx screws) but to no avail, then removed and replaced the rubber 'O' Ring (Very small GREEN one) and found a small tear/slight score in the old one, this fixed the bloody fault!!!

i havent had much if any driving experience of C5's but most older citroens dont like driving at 30mph in 4th gear, and dont like 4th till nearer 40mph,
so if the C5 is like the older citroens this is nornal

I know....someone's hopefully coming today to do it

I know you say they dont like being at 30 in 4th, and not happy till nearer 40 in the gear...not much use that if you're suppose to sit in 3rd when in town, it's going to use more fuel like that, after all, the idea of having a diesel is the mpg, grunt/torque

After reading this I would suggest buyin a mechanical boost guage off ebay ( tenner) and run it accross The turbo solinoid to watch how it behaves during driving conditions...its helped me cure my lock of boost syptoms...was a split in pipe I didn't notice and was getting vac of 10-11 psi now upto 20 psi with air leak fixed so before it wasn't closeing The wastegate properly at low revs and jus blew out all The boost untill 3000 rpm

I thought about that, but as I've put it in the garage till it sells, I probably won't.....but after our discussion on the other post, you're making me think about using it again and trying hard to get used to it. The thing annoying me now though is now that you've mentioned about this sport button that stiffens things up (that I don't have being the LX model)...I either try and used to a driving boat or sell
